you previously stated that his dads a alchoholic and stuff he will probly beat the living shit out of him seing as he has anger issues, and tell him to tell his dad to gtfo because he's an alcoholic and if his dad tried to stop drinking it would be hard for him like it's his for his 17 year old son and hopefully he may understand, and tell him to make some shit up like i started doing needles because i can't cope with my life it's shit i have an alcoholic father who has anger issues to make his dad feel like shit and make him feel it's partially his fault and his dad may not disown him.

There are many people with HIV, he is not the only one and some other people have it MUCH MUCH worse ( chronic diarrhoea, chronic fatigue and much projectile vomiting).

If i were him I would find a local HIV community group for people like himself, where they can support each other.

I had a couple of people with HIV come to our school and they were on the verge to suicide, and they told us their story and how they got their life back on track, this is probably the best choice for him and as a friend, you should help him find this group.

I'll be totally honest. Your friend was in a hole and just dug himself deeper and you're filling it by not telling his father. I know you probably really care about him and wouldn't want him to get mad at you but this is a very adult situation and it's time to stop acting like children.

Either ask him to get help, or get help for him. If you truly care about his well being you'll do your best to make sure he lives as long as he can. Even if his life doesn't involve you afterwards.

Edit: I can completely relate to his father situation. I know it'll be rough but it'll get better.

To everyone who says the father won't disown him: Just because your parents wouldn't doesn't mean that everyone has nice caring parents

Well, Definitely should get tested for 1, If the test is a Positive result then you should let the family know, it is a serious virus and shouldn't be taken lightly, even though the father may be how you describe, parent instinct will take over and their will be tension for a while, but that will pass. Being 17 and having an an addiction you'll most definitely need support.

Anyways Good luck to your friends addiction and situation hope for the best :D

Btw this could be a opportunity for them both to quit :)

He needs to tell his father asap (and if you can't convince him to tell his father i think you should do it for him, with or without his consent), He would be the only one that could get him the help he really needs. Im pretty sure his father won't dis-own him either, parents always come through for you in times of need, thats what they're here for.

100% agree.

Don't know why, even after this post, people kept talking about how his 'parent instincts' will kick in. Not every parent is a good parent. Remember, some parents murder/rape their kids...

OT: He should probably find a group, as suggested by someone above. He'll find people who are in a situation similar to his, and even if he isn't certain he has it'll be good to know how to cope.

Not to sound childish or retarded, but he should tell his father he caught the disease via sexual intercourse. I'm pretty sure no father would disown their son because they banged a chick who happened to have HIV.

I mean, if it was either get disowned because of the truth, or attempt to lie and have a chance of not being disowned? I'd take the second option.

russia sounds pretty stupid...i'd bet the cold would just lower his immune system.

His dad would be very angry at first but he would chill out and help him.

THANKS YOU SO MUCH. I will tell my friend about this, it makes complete sense and it won't admit an addiction. Thank you.

I agree with this, though i think his father should know the truth because he will find out sooner or later, however harsh it may sound.
Sorry
