Should I just prepare to settle for my losses? Why am I charged an additional chargeback fee?

 

This is exactly why you should never sell via paypal if you don't request a government ID from your buyer. Paypal favors the buyer in a majority of virtual trades.

Its common knowledge, and actually I took that from a reputable gold seller here on sythe (can't quite remember who, just saw him post about it on anther users thread).

I answered your thread title in a subtle way. If you want the hard answer, yes. Its a lost cause.

As for your next two questions, I have absolutely no idea.

 

It's very likely a lost cause without evidence for PP to send the CC issuer. The extra $20 fee is a credit card chargeback fee. Why? Likely because PayPal has to spend more time with these.

If you do a lot of business with PayPal (using goods and service) you can call and ask them nicely to waive the $20 fee.

 

To an extent. Try calling up and convincing the buyer to reverse it... or his parents. It's fairly easy to get contact information if you spend a few bucks. Make sure you have some sort of proof of delivery as well.

 

wouldn't that be harassment if you call their parents? if you don't have proof you may aswell settle for your losses, sorry

 

This. Find the guy's addres, contact his parents, or him personally. If you're going to fight this out through Paypal you'll lose...

ie the guy confirming on Skype that it was a successful transaction, a vouch he posted, etc. As long as you have something that's pretty clear (and not too hard to understand) for a third party.

 

Its not a lost cause. But for the hassle you'd have to go through to get it I would leave it seeing as its a small amount. Although you could ask PP to drop the fee if you use PP often

 

You gotta get personal and see if you can call his parents and/or PayPal to explain the situation.

 

It is a lost cause unless like what the others say which is to contact the buyer personally. But I believe that is a lost cause as well otherwise there would not be a chargeback.

Any form of proof of delivery/resolution will take at least a month from my experience and have always ended on the bad side for me.

In my opinion, take the hit and in the future if you're going to take PayPal, request for their ID , phone number and verify their address. It will help to a certain extend.
