You won't be playing any games on this but that's an outrageously good price for the hardware that's packed in there. Something like that might usually clock in at $600.

You can play games on it, processor and igpu are good enough to run league and csgo, even overwatch, the i3-6100u was able to play it and the specs are near identical. you don't use a laptop to play triple aaa games anyways.

anyways, with $600 its probably better to buy a laptop with a dGPU at that point, why are you even spending $600 for a laptop with only an igpu when you can get a 960M around that price too

Slow memory, that'll suffer on rendering things like textures. It's to be expected. With only 4GB memory in the laptop in the first place you won't get adequate performance while gaming. Low settings at 30fps maybe but it'll eat through your ram at anything higher than that.

My comment on $600 is what a laptop of this quality would normally cost, anywhere in the 500-600 range. Prices are really dropping on these low-power laptops which is understandable since that's where the market is right now. Also, for the record, if you're spending the same amount on a machine with a 960M, I'm willing to bet the physical build quality is shit in contrast to the hardware packed within.

Ram is upgradable, no comment on that. inspiron 7559? You can find refurb practically new for ~580 on sales. no comment on build quality either, since i don't own one, but apparently its good. Afaik, the acer e 15 models aren't the best of build quality either, isn't acer known for having shitty build quality anyways?

also going on to gaming, like i said, you're not playing triple aaa titles on it, afaik you can hit 60fps low-med on the games i listed.

    It's ok.

Acer's lower end laptops sacrifice on displays (I own one). You can always replace the display for 80-100 bucks and put in an IPS if you trust yourself.

This laptop is certainly great for productivity though.

Oh yeah, you're also going to want to upgrade the RAM, 4 gigs is NOT enough. Chrome will eat through all of it with only a few tabs.

Acer's build quality is fine even on their low end.

But tbh to anyone interested in this laptop I'd suggest just waiting till black friday. I managed to pick up an acer aspire with an i5 5200 U and 940m for 400 bucks.

I hate Acer. My laptop I got in 2010 from them was shitty quality, shitty battery life (that malfunctioned 2 months after purchase), and their customer service is atrocious. You ultimately get what you pay for but I was not impressed with Acer at all.

I've since gone Asus and am much more satisfied.

I'll admit though, Asus was always going to win because it was a notebook that was literally triple the price. But Asus has already proven in my experience to be way better with customer service.

Acer's cheap products aren't woth the headaches, imo. I got fooled by a similar "deal" like this one in 2010. If it breaks down, help aint happening.

afaik they're known for putting good hardware into cheap ass shit, so i suppose my point still stands

Asus makes pretty premium grade laptops, all of their laptops look good, not cheap plastic like most of acer low/mid budget ends, and they got good customer service.

but like you said, you get what you pay for, in the end its better to go with a better name brand

For sure man. At the end of the day I guess it really depends what you need it for. Despite my headaches with Acer, it did last until this past year. Though I had to be very patient with it, it was not a good machine by any stretch of the imagination. It booted slow, it loaded slow, and anything aside from basic word processing programs would tax the potato lol.

After that experience I don't think I'll ever go Acer again. They've lost my trust for good I think.

My Asus though :):):). I love it.

I actually looked up some ranking system on brands that some website did, Asus only ranked behind Apple under all metrics. I cannot comment on the quality of Apple though, I am not an Apple fan myself but I have never had a computer product from Apple so I cannot comment accurately.

What laptop brands are your favorites? Have you found any good budget notebooks that aren't Acer?

I recommended a Lenovo for my brothers girlfriend and she loves it. I think it was 500-600 which I consider pretty budget friendly.

Lenovo thinkpads are good for school work and very light gaming, i usually see them with an i5/i7.

Personally like you, Asus. They're just too good in their quality of things they build. Same with their desktop equivalent parts, they're pretty good at making good build quality parts.

Macbooks are really over priced for what you could actually afford vs a windows computer, but i do like their nice slim design which seem to overheat fast. Though they do feel great, maybe because its an apple product. I suppose that is a top factor people put into laptops nowadays though.

My man! Asus for life!! I got the Asus Rog myself, soooo sexy. I don't even care that the screen is so big. The picture is the best picture I've seen on any computer, my desktop included.

It's pretty cool because I can now benchmark both an AMD build (Desktop that I built) and the Asus' NVIDIA build. I was able to get a sweet deal through my internship that gave me a large discount on it, so I basically got a retail 1200 dollar machine for like, 800 bucks.

Hard to believe a 500 dollar increase could result in a 1000x better performing laptop. It's truly amazing how fast technology moves. Right when I bought this one they already released more powerful NVIDIA notebook cards lol. Ish moves too fast for me brotha.

Last gen nvidia cards should be strong for awhile, polaris is still expensive too, so theres that, though now that they have the power of desktop equivalent in laptops, thats pretty cool, very big upgrade to nvidias line of graphics.

Incredible isn't it? My laptop outperforms my desktop by a fair margin and only a year separates most of their hardware. And it's sooooo quiet.
