Help with linking Mac's

Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to link together two imacs. Ideally to use the computing power of both, or at least to be able to use one mouse & keyboard between the two.

If I find any leads ill update this post.

Edit: Ive given 'teleport' a try, but It looks like its not compatible with El Capitan OS.

Edit2: I found a solution using 'MouseShare' which can enable one mouse and keyboard between two machines. Ill be playing with it more, but it seems great so far!

 

merging computing power? no

one mouse one keyboard for both? assuming you want dual monitor type behaviour, why not just use dual monitors? if that isn't an option, there's software that can mimic that behaviour but it won't be practical or responsive

 

I have a second monitor already, and I can use the second imac as a third monitor, but ideally I could use it as well for animating and rendering.

I'm going to try search out an option for one mouse/keyboard between the two, then link them with a thunderbolt cable so I can transfer files. Seems like the best option so far.
