    help with laptop chillpad!

hey guys. 2 days ago i bought a chillpad/fan thing for my laptop because it was crashing due to excessive heat. i plugged it into my usb port and played some games. half an hour later, realtemp was playing a warning that told me my laptop was close to overheating. it was at its usual temperatures that it had without the chillpad. could it be because the pads fan wasnt fast enough? i know i could get higher fan speed with like an airsoft gun battery, so what should i do?

If you're using something similar to this:

Then the fan speed isn't the issue.

As long as there's a slight elevation off the surface (table), then there should be sufficient airflow.

The only reason I see why you're laptop is still overheating might be because you're playing a game on an underpowered laptop, meaning you're lacking the required hardware (CPU etc).

I'm not sure how you'd get higher fan speeds with an airsoft gun battery, but I assume it wouldn't hurt to try?

probably because im playing skyrim on 2.1ghz of cpu power lol. ive been meaning to build an awesome desktop for some time now to play stuff better though lol. btw the airsoft battery is for a high end gun, so it outputs a higher voltage than the usb ports
