Help with getting a more smooth face?

I had acne all through my teens, still have a bit, nothing bad. But i found the cause was... dirty pillowcases... my whole life.

Right now I have 3 goals to improve myself right now
1. Improve Grades in school
2.Help with getting my skin on my face more smooth
3. Getting half an inch of fat off my lower abdominal :p

Anyways, I was looking for some help to improve the skin in my face, to have that smooth look.

Heres my face conditions
1. Oily face, (looks kinda greasy no matter what i do)
2. A bit acne prone, i have a pretty good amount of acne on the sides of my face thats been there for months, i cant get rid of it!
3.(along with acne prone) usually when i get some acne away more comes...

4. i workout/run alot, im in track and ill get all sweaty and feel gross and i dont really know the right steps to get the full effect of preventing acne, usually ill just put some "face cleaner" on in the shower and thats all ill do with my face...

Any questions that you might have about my face that would help with the solution feel free to ask, thanks guys!

I'm 20 and I've honestly NEVER had acne, and I've never gone through that phase where teens get a heap load of pimples. But I've had the occasional 1 or 2 pimples on the face/forehead.

Not sure if this will work against acne but I remember hearing it from a family doctor that if you apply tooth paste on it, it helps cleanse the area and also smoothens the pimple area. WHITE tooth paste, not GEL tooth paste. Apply before going to sleep, and remember to wash it off when you wake up :D

Should give it a try, I've been doing it since I was 17 and it really helps :)

No. Do not do this. Please do research on something if you're not sure on it, rather than giving advice that would most likely worsen his face. It could possibly prevent him from getting a smooth face for a long time. Toothpaste is made for teeth, not pimple or acne.

After googling this, here are the results.

Here's what people say:
Its works for those that gets pimples once in a blue moon, toothpaste has sulfur in it thats why. Pls don't try it, it burns yours skin.

I agree with you totally, coz I once tried it and it worked for 2days after that my skin got burned,it opened my pores hence I have holes on my cheeks . So Kewlfewl DO NOT TRY IT!!!!

It's just a myth. The only people who say that it works are people who get a spot once a year and even then the toothpaste doesn't make any difference. There spots just don't last very long.

The above are simply things people have said and claimed out of experience or knowledge.

Here's the outcome of when someone tested it:

Toothpaste being used as an acne cure is one of the biggest lies in all cures- while toothpaste in it's purest form may or may not be effectual, the chemicals in modern toothpaste are counter-productive.

A few hours of having this on my cheeks left a scar/burn like texture on my skin which has not disappeared an entire year later (or even shows signs of healing). Ultimately, another failed product.

Since this is the most destructive cure I have ever tried, people should be warned not to cross a line like this. Do this at your own risk- and even then, make sure it is the pure, unflavoured type.

It's not worth the risk, as there are other alternatives to getting rid of acne. Toothpaste is not the way to go, and it could be harmful.

People have already given you good advice, about the pillow case, I suggest you do that and tell us the outcome :)

Buy some bp for spot treatment. I use a daily facial scrub that is St. Ives. Also, if your acne is bad enough, ask your doctor for doxy. Eating healthy foods is also a great way to stay smooth :D because fats and caffeine can help cause acne.

Since summer is getting near, this is a golden tip, works the best for me.
Just go sunbathing alot, it seems to dry them buggers out.. Really works!
