Help! Trojan Infestashion!

my computer has shit load of virus and trojans and geting alot of popups help!

 

umm.. I would reboot your computer from the start tbh, unless you have alot of files and junk on your comp

I'd do the following

-take a scan and delete them
-system restore

 

Yes but newer trojans and malware usually eat themself into system restore files..
So unless you have valuable files i recomend you do Format C::.
Or if you have valuable files then put them on cd's,tough you might get malvare from cd's back..
If nothing else help,format is always the golden road.

To those dumbasses that say "Reboot", thats not entirely helpful k?

I'd personally download AVG free and do a scan, chances are an anti-virus will catch it and you've just been stupid , or have norton...
Assuming you do need to REFORMAT not reboot, you insert the Windows XP Cd (Or vista, whatever) then restart the computer, it should have a prompt like "Press f8 to boot from disk" Or something like that, press OK.
When it goes into the HDD partion bit , theres a button that says format HDD, click that, select the HDD and continue installing windows.

 

Umm popups is spyware there is one program spyware search and destroy i think download it and delete ur popups and try using kaspersky i love it helped me or either run a system restore.

 

ROFL, reboot you computer wouldn't do anything... ROFL! rebooting is turning it off then on. I think you mean reformatting which is resetting the hard drive and everything to its manufacturing settings.... which i did and my computer is running ten times faster!!
save your files to a USB or two and maybe a cd, then reformat!

Run that, then re-install windows.

 

scanning and rebooting wont do anything because your mostlikely to have some trjans in your registry, so youll have to just do a full reinstallation of your hardrive

 

Reinstalling Windows doesn't usually delete a virus/trojan. Simply because it doesn't wipe any files store in the C:/ drive, even program files remain.

The virus will most likely still be there, but simply dormant because you wiped all your installations etc. For all you know you'll reactive it when you run an old program you found in your program files etc. Just never take the risk with well designed trojans.

Ok ive been where you are right now. I didnt have to reinstal windows or wipe my computer, juts make sure you are NOT connected to the internet and run either AVG 7.5 or COMODO Anti-Virus. After that you should run SpyBot Search and Destroy. This should deal with the Trojans then you should make sure that all temporary internet files are deleted because thats probably where the pop-ups are comming from. hope this helps
