[Help] how to make bg transparent

This is my first attempt, In need of some help. I created this text on Photoshop however whenever I try make the black background transparent it doesn't go so well. Can anyone help me solve this issue, your help will be much appreciated

 

save it as a .png

 

I've done that, then what?

 

Have no background layer, it will look like a checkerboard.

>Save for web
>Png-24
>Transparency and Interlaced on
>save

 

If i have no background layer then it intervenes with the cloud filter that I have on.

 

If you must have a bg just make it the sythe color or whatever site

 

Nah you can have transparency on here.
is it transparent when you save it? if so its your image hosting site.
