    Help choosing a super-wide

My price range cannot exceed £400 for this, so that puts my resolution into the 2560x1080 range.. Though, I may consider the 3440x1440 if there is a good enough deal on it.

Just curious if anyone has anything good to say about these monitors? I'm not looking for a gaming monitor this is purely the increase my work space for my iMac 5k.

Here's the one I'm currently considering..

    Any thoughts?

EDIT: Or whether I'm taking the wrong approach going with a super-wide when there are alternatives?

Someone recently posted this on Imgur, it's a good read: http://imgur.com/gallery/14kwY

Since you're not doing it for gaming, investing in the 3440 will obviously give you most space. Are you against dual monitor setups? It's perfect for multitasking. If you really want everything on one screen, the bigger the better.

It also all depends on the work you're doing. If it's colour sensitive work, then you might be stuck with the smaller resolution to get a better quality panel. If it's literally just to have more space on one screen, go all out and get the largest resolution you can.

Looking at the one you linked, there's probably room for savings. It's only 29" so having that curve and not using it for gaming is a bit of a waste that can be compensated in a better flat panel. Always go IPS for these larger monitors though.

The extra width will give you a lot of horizontal space. If you want more overall space, consider going from 2k to 4k. I'm unfamiliar with the costs involved in a 4k monitor, so if it's outside your budget then stick with 2k.

The iMac 5k would be the first monitor, this would be the second monitor. After some more searching earlier it's suggested to at least go with 4k for the 5k second screen. As it's apparently very bad ascetically as well as real-estate. 16:9 I didn't really look into, I liked the horizontal space of the 21:9. However, it seems like a very high price for what you get. I'd be paying around the same for a 4k monitor.

Cheers blu, if you have any other suggestions send them my way. This is for code reading and previews. Not for 3d / graphical work.
