Hel me find a good first car.

Next week I should be getting my Red P's (Being able to drive alone without supervision) and i'll be getting my first car. Seeing as I know NOTHING about cars I thought that i would just put some details down and you guys could help me find one in AUSTRALIA

- AUTOMATIC transmission.
- No earlier than a 2003 model
- Look sporty but has to be practical
- small-medium sized car
- can be easily maintained ( cheap spare parts )
- good fuel economy
- limit around 10.5k for the car
- bluetooth / mp3 playback
- Can't go over 6 cylinders, no supercharge or turbocharge
- something with a body like a lancer ( i'm fond of the design )
- low kms. 20k a year

here are some I've found, they're all lancers cause I don't know what other cars to look for.

- Red Lancer
- Black lancer
I've been told not to get a lancer for that much but I like the shape of the car so if you find anything that looks like that, it's a plus

I use the site www.carsales.com.au to find a car so a link from that website would be easier and for the post code you can put down 2147 and New South Wales for the state.

 

The Lancers you're looking at are horrific.. Also don't go for a lancer unless you're getting the Evo 8)

wouldn't you settle for a small engined french hatchback? cheap insurance, cheap to repair, cheap to buy!

 

So give me examples, i stated that i know NOTHING about cars.

 

Clio, Saxo, Pug 106, just little hatchbacks that're cheap to run, Lancers are a bit of a shitty saloon

Well. I'd like give you some of suggestion just even thought. Holden Cruize? My sister is using this car, it's really worth car to drive it. That what i would recommended.

Get a Mini One or Mini Cooper, I got it as my first car, they're pretty cheap, run on petrol, not diesel. They're extremely fun to drive, trust me. You will not find a better car on petrol, when you fill up the tank, you will forget about it, it will last you ages. You can also get into most parking spaces easily.

 

I would of suggested a Golf but then you don't want hatchbacks :/.. or you could try a bora if there not to big?

You best bet is a honda civic. GREAT gas mileage, extremely inexpensive maintenance, automatic, cheap, sporty, compact, v6, customizable with ground effects 'n shit if you're into that. You can also find a shit ton of used civics for sale at good prices, most of which are still perfectly functional.

Great car, lasts forever.

VW passats or Jettas are nice too, but tend to be a bit more expensive

I agree with Moh, check out the Honda Civics. Not too sure if they have them in your area but they are relatively cheap, have amazing gas mileage and are fairly cheap to fix due to the fact that they are extremely common.

 

I'm tellin ya man, try and buy a car from an old lady. I bought a 2002 with 39k on it last year. They hardly use them and they're brand new.
