Not really. There are plenty of decks that are cheaper and actually broken (Miracle, Facehunter, etc.)

Control warrior is THE most expensive deck in the game, and, all things considered, pretty balanced.

Made it to 15, started running a legendary paladin control deck that works ok

Legend here. How can you get stuck in pre 5? Rush your way up.

Yeah as I said, everyone can get to at least rank with playing cheap (800 dust~) rush decks. I'm not hardcore either, I just grind ladder sometimes.

MTG is where the challenge is at for me.

 

It's not impossible, rare though. Happened to me twice.

This was like a day after Tinkmaster was nerfed. 1600 dust woo!

Winstreak does get you there quite fast.

 

I just don't agree with your statement that getting to rank 5 is easy for everyone, especially for someone who only plays casually.

It's possible to get to legend with a f2p deck but the same time it's possible to top 8 a Grand Prix with an infect deck. It's just harder because they're budget. Dust is a big factor in this game that isolates some players. Furthermore, the grind to get higher ranking is fairly time consuming, even if you win every game. Some people only have time to play a few games a day, usually to complete daily quests.

 

Of course there are, and have always been, people who are bad at video games. I wasn't taking them into account.

Playing a few games a day is enough to get into higher rankings. And what comes for the dust I can't say I agree with you seeing as the best decks cots 800-1600 at most. Yeah legendary train warrior is fun, but you don't have to play it.

 

You do realize, that because of the win streak you don't even have to have a higher then 50% winrate to get legend. Getting to legendary just takes time, obviously the better players get there quicker then the weaker players.

Just made it to rank 13, running a aggressive mage deck with Archmage Antonidas. Seems to work well versus all the zoo decks I've faced
