Halo 4 - Epic/Fail?

Played it quite a bit last night.

Love the game but I have a few things that I don't like.

For one, the Aasault Rifle is WAY overpowered, and secondly, I do t care for the maps. Besides that I am logo the game so far.

Epic, definitely. It's more like a revamped version of Halo 3. Awesome graphics, great story, and, of course, the best online multiplayer gameplay.

I've seen some gameplay and from what I see, it's incorporated Halo 3 + Halo Reach. It looks really good and I hope I can pick it up sometime.

It's pretty good so far, but it's going to take me some time to get used to playing at 30fps again (damn ancient consoles).

Don't worry, the ranking system will be updated soon to incorporate the 1-50 ranking system Halo 3 had ;)

Where'd you hear of this? Its really the only thing missing for me in the Halo series from ever since they left to make the game the absolute best to me.

I got the game and played it. I hate how there's some noobish weapons that instantly whoop your ass (e.g the grenade launcher?). I play pro now so its cool.

saw this on another forum just gonna leave it here...

it "takes the skill out of the game" (using this loosely, as it doesn't completely wreck the game) by adding in elements of randomness

take, for example, halo 2. mlg ts on lockout
there is 1 sniper rifle, 1 sword, 1 shotgun

now lets play infinity ts on lockout. theres a sniper rifle, a sword, a shotgun, and a whole mess of other random power weapons and powerups from peoples ordinances. not only do i have to account for being sniped by the sniper rifle that spawns on the map, i have to worry about some ****ty kid getting a sniper rifle from his 5 assists and a couple of kills, accompanying his 10 deaths. that's not skill, that's a weapon that the guy got lucky with through his ordinances.

now lets take armor abilities. if everyone just spawned with sprint, or everyone spawned with thrusters or jetpacks, that'd be okay. i wouldn't like it, but everyone starts out on an even playing field at least and you know what everyone has. now imagine you are shooting someone, he gets down to no shields, but he pops that stupid light shield. i have already spent my grenades on killing another guy. i have no way of dealing with this guy but to wait for this shield to wear off. before he popped it, he had shot me 3 times. meanwhile his buddy shows up out of nowhere and cleans up the kill on me. that is a stupid mechanic that no amount of skill can account for.

sprinting is dumb as well. nothing made me more mad than getting someone down to no shields in reach then him just using sprint and running around a corner. they tried to counter this by slowing your character down when you are shot while using sprint, but any amount of distance covered counts and sprint has already saved me and people i have been trying to kill plenty of times in this game.

my point is, luck should not be a part of the game.
some bad kid shouldn't be able to get lucky with a spartan laser or damage boost or a beam rifle in his ordinance drop compared to my pulse grenade/needler/speed boost choices. that's just stupid and a lazy mechanic put in by 343 to make halo more like cod.

as far as random weapon timers are concerned, they greatly take skill out of the game. for example, say your team is up 40-35 and your team has very good map control right now. you don't know when or where sniper/rocks/whatever will spawn, but the other team can get a lucky random timer and have the sniper rifle spawn when they just so happen to be in the vicinity of the spawn point, effectively turning the tides of the game, ALL BASED ON CHANCE. if the other team had known that it would have spawned at 10 minutes or whatever, they could have shifted their position to take advantage of their map control, and grab the spawning weapon just as it drops.

note: i have said this before in an earlier post: i don't think this game is terrible. i like the fact that 343 has pretty much made away with bloom and armor lock, and sped up player speed/jump height. i am not ripping on h4 for the sake of ripping on it. i want this game to succeed more than most people ITT. but nothing will get done if people aren't vocal about what they don't like.

so don't take my grievances as me hating the game, or me thinking the game is total ****, because its not. i just have very strong feelings about what bungie could have done with reach, and what 343 can do to save this franchise.

you know, it fucks me off to the core that neither bungie nor 343 have listened to any of the cries of the halo community.

all we want is an up-to-date version of halo 2/3. none of this gay bullshit armor, perks, randomization. killing the franchise wayquick.

I think it is amazing. I do want to say the things I do not like about it.

I find myself in a lot of situations where I need a grenade but do not have it to throw. In the big maps the Mech is extremely OP. I do like how weapons can damage vehicles more though. I know this might sound dumb but I think the maps are not "smooth" enough. When I am looking at someone and firing while trying to run, I hit a lot of small ridges or things the player can not step over and I get stuck. Haven, Complex, and Adrift are solid maps, but the others do not play well at all. I was trying to pick a couple of Halo 3 maps that should be in multiplayer but I ended up naming all of them....So I guess I am one of those people that believes the Halo 3 maps were the best.

I will say the spawning seems better, not as random as Reach where you spawn right in front of the enemy. And I think I can speak for everyone here but THANK GOD the maps were not all made in damn forge.

I like it but I agree with the above poster about assault rifles being too good. I liked the campaign and the legendary ending was awesome!!! I won't ruin it for you though. Overall I'm very satisfied with the game and I appreciate all the work that was put into it!

Good game but get's boring rather fast just like Reach.
Never had that problem with H3. Also the new ranking system there coming out with would've made the game better but your rank will be visible on WAYPOINT. Sucks

Epic, without question.

The only area it fails in with comparison to Halo 3 is the maps.

Sandtrap was an amazing map, Halo 4 maps dont seem to compare :/ Otherwise, amazing!

Halo 4 IMO isn't that good at all lol.
I didn't really like the campaign at all the story line was okay I guess. Most of the missions were Promethean Knights spammed in your face. Multi player is filled with noobs lol. UGH its just so annoying thinking about it.. The maps are all meant for Big Team games besides for like Haven and maybe Solace. They made it alot like COD and the weapon drops are really annoying. I loved Halo 2 and Halo 3, I also thought Reach was good compared to Halo 4 lol and I hated Reach. So all I'm doing is waiting for the new competitive ranking system to come out. If that fails I'll probably just play Halo 3 and never buy another Halo game again unless they make a Halo 2/3 remake like they did Halo 1

I'm new to the Halo series, so playing Halo 4 was my first encounter with the story. I really enjoyed the Campaign even though it wasn't that long I still liked it.
