Hacked while slashing at clan wars.

Woke up this morning with bank cleared and basically everything of value gone. Ran scans on pc this morning (superantispyware, Malwarebytes, Hitman pro, Rogue Killer) and nothing came up. I'm pretty sure I somehow managed to get a keylogger on my computer as there is no way to guess my password. I'm going to completely reload my OS this evening but my question to the community is has anyone every had this happen to them before? Also there was multiple other people at the lumby bank talking about how they also got hacked while splashing so just a heads up to everyone. Ill keep this updated if I find out any other information.

 

Do you remember downloading anything that looked malicious, as I don't understand how your bank could be cleared if you didn't get keylogged. Splashing itself if just done through the runescape client should be perfectly fine.

 

Well that's the strange thing. I'm pretty smart about what i'm downloading and I stay up to date on running removal tools. The only thing at this time that I believe could have cased this was PowerBot but I haven't used the program in over 2 months and complete removed it from my PC when I was finished.

 

I also use OSBuddy but I don't believe that's an issue

 

OSBuddy, and PowerBot are both 100% safe.

 

Well I have no idea how someone figured out my information then.

 

The odds that somebody actually guessed your password are slim to none. The fact that your password was not changed shows that your computer is likely infected. If they social engineered into your account, the password would be changed.

 

I agree it most likely was or is infected. It's just strange and frustrating because I can't find any traces of suspicious activity on the PC.

 

Did you not have authenticator?

 

No I didn't.... stupid mistake I know

 

Yeah, if you get authenticator and also 2fa your attached email account, then there's no possible way of getting hijacked.

 

I've got it set up now for my account and email. Thanks for the heads up Meteor hopefully I can avoid this in the future.

Your computer is probably infected with something that your scans didn't pick up on.

 

Most likely. I completely reformatted the drive and reloaded my OS

 

that sucks, happened to me once. Never again.

 

The only thing that is strange is that Sinker stated that other people reported the same thing, and it didn't just happen to him.

 

Could it be that you visited some phishing websites before?

 

This and the fact that I found zero traces on my computer. I'm a computer tech at a local repair shop so virus/malware/keyloggers are not foreign territory to me.
