I was selling a guide for 15m 07 on how to receive 0 combat xp in osrs at 10k xp a day in the chosen skill. The guide was reviewed to be 100% accurate by a middle man which validated the thread, though as you can see this was later in the process:

I approached H1j2q3 by pasting my guide and I explained how he could profit with a slow method of only receiving 10k xp a day. He suggested that I should get an OMM to verify it first and in my response I said that if you validated it instead (by a positive review/vouch) I would give you the guide for free, however he did not validate it, and he directly declined to take me up on this offer.

So, I got a different middle man, mr extremez to validate the thread, and mr extremez got the guide for free because of this; h1j2q3 missed this opportunity.

Once the guide was verified, he asked me to pm the guide over Sythe. Asking someone to pm you the guide over Sythe constitutes as buying the guide, since it was already clear he missed his opportunity for validating it. So I mentioned in the pm if he would like to do the exchange over paypal, since I considered this buying it. His response to the pm, never mentioned he didn't intend to pay. If he thought this was just for review purposes, he should have adressed in his reply that he did not intend to pay me when I asked how he would like to conduct the exchange and we could have dealt with it there.

Then, he pms me on skype in broken english that the method would take ages, and "not work for me, i think". But he was fully aware that it only rewards 10k xp a day as stated directly in my thread, and simple math shows it would take years to get a 99, but mere weeks to get 65 which is the profitable level (full third age as a lvl 19 - sell for 400 bucks easily). Just because it takes to long for you doesn't mean you are exempt from paying for it.

This guide shares some incredible information, I admit I wasn't as clear as possible that I expected payment for pming him that guide (though I thought this was common knowledge, when they ask for a pm of it), but at the same time, with information that good, he shouldn't be able to receive that information scot free and pay absolutely nothing.

Also, you can consider buying something all you want, but if you then request a pm of the guide after considering it, then that's definitely locking in that you are buying the method.
