It's funny how almot everybody sees these as Anonymous' mask, when the mask itself is from the movie V for Vendetta and was based on Guy Fawkes from the gunpowder plot

 

I'm not sure wether these exact masks excisted before the movie or that they were just similar and the movie set the standard.
