Spam Forum - 50 Posts Requirement

After reading the DNS List, I have concluded that "- Vouch/post requirements to certain sections*" means suggesting to add a post requirement to a particular section. Therefore to make things clear before I continue with my suggestion, I am not suggesting an implementation of post requirement in a section.

So anyway, I just noticed and remembered that you need a minimum of 50 posts in order to post in the Spam section.

I was wondering why this is, considering it is after all the Spam section.

This simply illuminates peoples urge to 'spam' other sections of the forum simply to be able to post in the Spam section itself.

Which is why I'm suggesting the removal of this post requirement as I do not see any positive aspects of keeping it intact.

Unless of course there is a valid reason(s) which I'm unaware of, then my view of this remains strong.

I think it was put in place because of the amount of vaders that created throwaway accounts just to post in the spam section.

 

Don't see any reason what so ever to remove it, regardless? Seems reasonable to me. I would assume it's something to do with vaders or people advertising in that forum with brand new accounts?

Eitherway, there must be a reason it's there, and there is absolutely no reason to have an issue with it anyway. You have a dying urge to post in the spam forum? Lol...

 

I think Richard enabled it a year or so back when people were making hate threads towards him and other members of staff when all the trolling was going on some time back. Anyone could create a dummy account and just post anything they wanted in there seeing as the spam forum is relatively popular in the community and would be more likely to attract attention. I think it's fine as it is to be honest, I don't want want people creating dummy accounts and posting a load of shit in there.

 

Not really, it seems you haven't created a new account for a long time. You can not create more accounts because if you create 1st and try create 2nd, it says that there is already created an account on your IP Adress ( even range IP !! )
so it won't work, so I suggest removing the 50 posts, lower it to 10 maybe or remove it !

 

I still don't understand why people would create smurf accounts simply to post in the Spam forum.

The positives in removing it outweigh the negatives in my perspective.

And of course I have an urge to post in the Spam forum.

It's where all the cool kids hang out.

Once again, I'm still unsure why people would bother posting those types of threads in the Spam section when it could easily be done at the top part of the forum such as the Community General section.

I see many people (for an unknown reason other then people creating multiple accounts for the sole purpose of posting/spamming threads in the Spam section), which is why I'm hoping this can at least be trialed.

Also on a related note, that is what moderators are for.

If those types of situations occur from what yous have mentioned, then I'm confidently sure that it can be monitored and enforced.

 

Are you aware how easily one can change an I.P address? Hell there are guides on this forum to do so. Let's not be naive. Lmao your range I.P changes when you disconnect and connect from the internet if other users are on it, so no sht you can't evade by doing that, but in this day and age most ISP's allow anyone to change an I.P that's why there are so many vaders - you failed to acknowledge this fact. It's no surprise you aren't aware of this as a 'new' user...

In response to OP, it's not hard to rack up 50 legit posts, if you care so much just do that. This is hardly an issue.

Just to clarify why it happened - People like Cruel__Machine and joewnn would make an obscene amounts of evader accounts just to fuck around with the site in the spam forum. Once the limit was set in place, they tried to get their accounts to 50 posts, but each time we caught them before they got there. joewnn tried to come back again recently but Cruel hasn't tried for quite a while to my knowledge. They're slowly but surely giving up which is what we want.
