    Getting Started:
Hey, and welcome to my fifth guide. Throughout this guide I will be explaining how to successfully backup your computer. Backing up your computer is something I suggest everyone does; if you don’t and your computer crashes you can lose everything. So hopefully all members follow this guide to protect their computer from losing valuable information.

    Backing up your Computer:

To begin click on the “Start” button on the bottom left side of your screen. One you have clicked that continue by selecting “Control Panel.”

Once your Control Panel has loaded, look for and click on “Performance and Maintenance.” After that you will be redirected to a new window, click on “Back up your data.”

Once you have selected “Back up your data” a “Backup or Restore wizard” should pop up. Start the wizard by clicking next. It will then ask you “What do you want to do?” Select “Back up files and settings” and continue by clicking next.

Now they will ask you “What do you want to back up?” This part is up to you, save information that you can not afford to loose.

After you have selected what you want to backup, you will now have to back it up onto something. I would suggest using a USB memory stick, CD, or a floppy disk. Select what to save it on by clicking on “Browse” and selecting your storage method. If using a CD it should be rewritable so you can backup your files again when necessary. (Thanks to WTP)

You have now completed the wizard, click “Finish” to begin saving your files. Now it is a matter of waiting for your files to become backed up. Once you are finished removed your storage method, and you have successfully backed up your computer.

    Tips:
I would suggest backing up your computer with about three to four disks. If your computer crashes, and you have lost or broken your disk you are out of luck.

Keep your backup information in a safe spot. Also remember where you put it, because having it does no good if you can’t fine it.

Proper labeling is very important. Be sure to label your disk with the information it contains.

Verify that your backups work. This can be done by entering it into the computer, and restoring some files. Make sure it contains the information that you want it to.

Thanks for reading my guide. If you haven’t already I hope you will listen to my guide, and backup your computer. I made this guide to benefit other members, so they do not lose anything they valve.

Please Rate, and give any advice you can about my guide, as I need to be able to learn form my mistakes. I hoped you enjoyed my guide, and hopefully it will benefit you in the near future.

A blank CD. Many people have them because they burn CD's.

Yes, you save all the info on the CD, then put it into your computer.

If your computer crashes, and is unusable you will problay end up getting a new one. You then put the disk into that one to get everything you had on your old one. Also I don't think all computers that crash are 100% unusable.

    Nice guide!

The CD should be rewritable (RW) so you can backup your files again when necessary.

If your computer crashes, throw your HD in another computer, and theres your data.... Unless your HD dies, your data will be fine... and there are better ways to backup your data then using Xps thing... most effiicent is to backup manualy...

Thanks, this guide really helped me, because I never knew how to backup my files. (Yes I know it might sound noobish :p)
Btw, if you have ever lost a file because of a crash (or just simply deleted it) and you have the same harddisk you used to have when it crashed, you can recover the file using a data recovery tool.I did it once on my old computer, works like a charm!
