Things You’ll Need:
Six to eight large sheets of newspaper
Flat work surface
Clear tape
Scissors (optional)
Electrical tape (optional)


Step 1:

Stack the sheets of newspaper or large paper on top of each other on a flat work surface. Use six to eight sheets for each sword. A thicker stack of paper will make a stronger sword, but it can also be more difficult to roll.
Step 2:

Make sure all the edges of the stack of paper line up. If the sheets are not all the same size, you may want to trim them so they match, or make sure the smallest sheet is on the top and the largest sheet is on the bottom.
Step 3:

Roll up the sheets of paper diagonally, beginning at the lower corner of the stack of papers. The tighter you roll the paper, the stronger the sword will be.
Step 4:

Place a piece of tape around the center of the sword to hold the rolled paper in place.
Step 5:

Hold the sword in one hand, about 6 to 10 inches from the bottom. Wrap the bottom part of the sword over your hand, so that it makes a comfortable loop over your hand, with about 1 inch to spare. Adjust your hand position and the size of the loop as needed.
Step 6:

Tuck the end of the looped paper under and tape it securely to the sword. This makes the handle of the paper saber or cutlass.
