Guide for Newcomers on sythe

Hello Fellow Sythe Members, Stui here on how to navigate the market forum on sythe.org and how not to get scammed.

Rules

The full list of rules can be found here http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=148431 but some of the main ones are listed below

Spamming: (in general):
Posting short, unhelpful comments (such as "cool", "nice acc," etc).
Flooding a forum with replies for the sole purpose of increasing post count. This may also be a permanent forum ban in certain forums, especially if deliberate.
Posting comments with little to no relevance to the topic
Bumping your thread more than once a day (To Include "Delete Bumping")
Accusing Someone of Scamming: without proof (text logs DO NOT COUNT AS PROOF)
Begging: asking for free RS items, RS accounts (etc) or asking for a rank or modship on Sythe.org
Grave Digging: This is self explanatory. If a thread hasn't had a post in several weeks or months. Don't post on it. (Exception: Spam Forum and some select threads. Use best discretion when posting.)
Asking for a Name Change

1 Week Ban

Advertising: Advertising a site in a post for the first offence will be a 1 week ban, further punishments may lead to a permanent ban. Includes links to other Markets, Gold farm sites, etc... If you wish to legitimately advertise your site on sythe.org then e-mail: [email protected]. Advertising Bots will be permanently banned.

1 Month Ban

Porn/Gore: posting pictures, videos, links to websites related to porn/extreme gore, etc. The staff will decide what constitutes porn or gore. It is not for you to decide. Steer clear of posting anything which could be interpreted as this.
Plagiarism: plagiarism (including the ripping of GFX and RS/User Ed Guides) results in a forum ban from the pertinent forum as well as a one month ban the first time it happens.
PIN Sales: Sale of membership Pins is strictly prohibited. Any discussion of this will be infracted. If it continues, you will be banned.

Vouches:

1st of all you should visit this thread here and Create a new topic called (your username) vouches. And then have a quick read of this which tells you what you can and canâ€™t do with your vouches.

Middlemen:

Have a look at this forum here which is the middleman forums. The definition for a middleman is:a person who arranges business or political deals between other people. A good explanation of how a middleman works is written here by FlyingToast.

Ranks:

A complete list of ranks can be found here

This is a rank to be wary of

this means that they have either had some problems with having their account secured or have been suspected of scamming or coming close to but there isnâ€™t enough proof to get them banned.

Moderators and Admins

Moderators are probably one of the most trusted people on sythe, they have been chosen by sythe himself to be a respectful and kind member of the community. To be one of these is a great honor and you should listen to their advice at all times wherever you are on sythe

Who moderates where?
A sectional moderator will moderate whatever section he or she is assigned to, for example a Runescape Moderator will moderate all threads and posts in the Runescape forums. Global moderators have the power to moderate every forum and admins can moderate every forum, as well as having complete control of all forums through the admin panel. All moderators and admins can give any user an infraction (except those of an equal or higher power than them) an infraction in any forum.

Scammed What Should I Do
OMG I've been scammed what should I do. Well 1st of all you should head down to the report a scammer section which is here and read all of the stickes which are here

Then just choose what applies to you, Fill it in with all of the necessary proof and you will be rid of that person in a flash

Nice start,
However I'd go into a bit more depth about how vouches work, and how to prevent getting scammed and for example how to trade, like taking screenshots etc.

First, you need to work on your grammar. "cant" isn't right. The small things really matter if you want a high quality guide that looks professional. Secondly, you rely too heavily on outside guides to do the work of explaining for you. For a beginners guide you want to shoot off as much information as possible in as short a time as possible. Teach them the ropes in a quick, easy read style format with links at the end to more in depth content. This way they can pick and choose what to read more about based on what they want to know more about or do not fully understand. Thirdly there doesn't seem to be much layout of the guide. It seems like random information randomly strewn together how ever. It needs to flow much nicer.
