Growing up too fast

at age 18 i was just waiting till i could get out of foster care and get a place of my own.
I had many responsibilities and stressful situations thrust upon me at a young age so i feel i matured well before i should have.
at age 19 i had my own place paid for by the government. I started university and had even more responsibilities.
i dont work for a living yet but i definitely cant say i feel immature.

also, the age of maturation is being pushed back for a lot of the developed world. kids do not have to work right after high school, they stay at their parents houses longer and take longer to have children and get married. the stage that these people are going through is called emerging adulthood.

I understand you completely, but that should be a sign. It seems as if time is passing by very fast for me, I can't even remember my sophomore or freshman year. You just have to get out with your friends every day possible, make the best of it and be happy while you still have the availability to hangout with friends and basically have a bunch of free time.

 

With the risk of repeating something said already: I don't think you should be worrying at all. If you feel like 16 when you're 18, fair enough - act like 16 and try not to give a shit about what people think.
Sure people may expect you to act differently, but people who are really strict in that area often have problems themselves.

I'm 20, and sometimes I say something completely retarded, although with a more mature attitude. If I'm having fun, I don't care if people judge me.

 

Turning 18 doesn't make you an adult. You are legally considered an adult but to everyone else your a teenager, a kid, a young man, a skimper scout.

Just like age does not depict when one becomes a man, age does not tell you when your an adult.
