From Scratch DIY

This is a DIY account, that means I won't be doing anything with the help of other players, this includes trading, using the GE, using the assist system, etc. I will be able to trade with NPC's as they are part of the game. I just want to see how far I can get on my own. I'll try to update the stats everytime I get a few levels, in the beginning this may be everyday but it may switch to every week later on. If you havent seen Duly's "From Scratch Series" go check it out, he has some nice commentaries and he's one of the people who have me the idea to even do this.

I haven't been playing much at all, I got a new car so I've been having more fun driving than playing RuneScape. I may quit being a DIY and start using the GE. Thoughts?

3/26/12-
I didn't get much done of spring break, I was enjoying my vacation. I've been playing vinesweeper to get some seeds to farm with so I can train herblore up, I really need to start doing more quests. I plan on getting summoning and construction up to 10 soon so I can make the milestone cape. Also I should be doing a bank video soon.

3/16/12-
Been mining smithing and doing a bit of fletching, haven't done much for bxp, busy with an online class and spring break just came up. Thinking of an end goal to have, something that once I do it I'm done and can trade and whatnot, any suggestions?

Got my dungeoneering up to use the Dwarven Resource Dungeon, mined around 500 coal, not quite as much as I hoped for bonus xp, I've been leveling slow since I have school. Might do a bank video soon, thinking about just mining more coal tomorrow if I get on.

Do you have a goal for this?

 

As far as I can progress in the game before I get bored of it. I want to see how far I can get being self sufficient.

 

Good luck, I tried making one like this, but using skills to get money and using the GE. I got bored pretty quick, because you can't even buy potions sometimes and you get tempted to RWT Anyway, good luck

 

You can get potions, you just have to make them yourself. I won't be selling or buying anything unless it's from an NPC.

Of course, I just can't get help from other players, no trading, no assist system, etc.

You've trained quite a bit How are you finding it being self sufficient?

 

It's really forces you to train all your skills. I wanted a ring of forging so I wasn't wasting iron when I made bars, and I realized I would need to train up mining to get gold, smithing to smelt the gold, crafting to make the ring, mage to enchant the ring, and runecrafting to get to runes to enchant it. It's a lot of fun and keeps the game interesting.

 

Good for you, your determination to stick to these rules is insane.

Are you doing this alone? Or with a friend? You should find a friend to do this with you, I feel like that would make it more interesting.

 

Doing it alone atm. None of my IRL friends play so I'm stuck by myself. I've heard of people doing this in groups where they can only trade with members of the group.

 

New update out, working on mining iron and coal to melt tons of steel down. I really need to get smithing and mining up way higher.

 

Are you not going to bot this?

I mean I get the whole DIY bit, but i don't really guess that means it's restricted from botting? I'm not sure how you're doing it.

 

No botting, all by hand. Doing dungeoneering right now, it sucks solo.

You should be mining in the dwarven mines as you can bank all your iron.

 

I was mining by fally and jumping over the wall, ill be mining coal in the resource dungeon because it has a lot of coal and a bank deposit box.

Not sure, what do you think a good goal would be?
