About a week ago I was on the computer and the screen would go black and then 5 seconds later it would show the screen again, and it had kept doing this, so I shut off the computer and when I tried turning it back on, it would just so a black screen, but i could still hear music. So then I opened up my computer to see what the problem was but I could not see a problem. I have a Nvidea graphics card but no idea what model sorry. But when i connect the monitor to the built in stock graphics card, the computer works perfectly. Please help because it makes my computer slower and I can play a few games.:D

Mmm mabye the refresh rate if off, try setting it to 60 or so. U could also try updatying your drivers from www.nividia.com. If all else fails try your card on another pc and see if it works then.

OK thanks. How do you change the refresh rate, and I cannot update the driver because when i try to find what driver I have, it is unable to find it because I am not connected to it and i cannot update the driver because it has to be conected to my monitor, and if I connect it to my monitor, then I cannot see what I am doing.

lol, I doubt it's your refresh rate if it's anything.

I think your video card is old. how old is it? you may also be getting this if you overclocked your card to much...

If by overclocked you mean over used then probly, and its about almost two years old.

No, by overclocked I mean using a program to increase the speed of a video card.

And what I'm thinking is that you are going to need a new video card. But, pull out your card and test it on a different monitor to see whether or not it is the video cards problem.
