got an infraction for admiting to putting a thread in wrong fourm

A couple of days ago, i made a thread and i just realised i had placed it in the off topic fourm insead of the FPS fourm. so then i was first to post on my thread saying sorry for puting the wrong thread in the wrong fourm. and then the next day i got a personal message saying ,do not double post and don't put threads in the wrong fourm. I am new to sythe and i know the rules but did not know how to approch this situation to try and not get an infraction.

is this fair?

You didn't get an infraction, you just got a warning. All it does is let you know that you were breaking the rules. 3 infractions = a temp ban. Warnings don't count towards that.
