Has anybody else been keeping up with the Go series? I think it's pretty crazy how quickly the AI has advanced to reach this point of what some are saying is playing in a manner that is simply beyond human comprehension. Lee Se-dol went into the matches saying that it would be a 5-0 or 4-1 series in his favor, but now he's hoping to win just one game.

Here's a link that provides some pretty good background info if you haven't been keeping up: http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/9/11184362/google-alphago-go-deepmind-result. It's from yesterday, though, AlphaGo is now up 2-0.

Apparently DeepMind is also looking towards Starcraft for their next AI, that will be interesting...

Yeah have been following this. I never thought that the AI would beat the world champion so quickly - Like I knew it would happen eventually but it has progressed so fast.

AlphaGo ended up taking the series by winning the third game earlier today. The remaining two games will still be played out, but I doubt Lee Se-dol can manage a win at this point.

It is quite amazing to see all this unfolding, but at the same time I can't help but feel a sense of loss in seeing an AI beat the strongest human competitor so handily..

Not going to lie, it felt pretty relieving to hear that it had lost. I'm a lot more excited to see the outcome of the 5th game now.

I won't be impressed until some kind of derivative technology reaches the consumers. All this fancy shit is all well and good, but for now it's just for show. It's the same in every industry. Advancement and innovation are happening every single day but we're still using embarrassingly similar tech to what we were using 10 years ago. Our lives haven't changed significantly, aside for perhaps in the realm of smartphones.

In the video they said they figured out how to get technology faster by instead of making the computer think 100 steps ahead they decreased it to 20. In which they are trying to make it more human like. Glad they finally realized that XD
