First off, I want to say thank you to everyone in the community for being here and being supporting, and also Kosaki for being who he is. Without him, none of this would have been possible. Kosaki is a great guy and you guys should understand that this is one of the toughest choices he's had to make in a while. You should also realize that this choice didnt rest solely on him, but on all of us - and with that, you should feel that we're doing the right thing and you stick by our decision. No one person should undergo the torment of legal matters by a large corporation, especially when you have more to lose than you have to gain.
KBot was, as Kosaki said, a great learning experience for all of us. I have watched a lot of people flourish in not only skill, but also personality - and whether you want to agree with me or not, we all grew as a whole. If we all take one thing from this experience I do not wish it to be any of our downfalls, but nothing short of we revolutionized (sounds lame, but its true) the botting scene and truly gave something new and better to the public. With that comes consequences and they have arrived.
From day one, for some history for you guys, this has been Kosaki's baby and nothing short of that. Since I was EVER given a staff position, even from moderator junior in my early days, Ive treated this as a second job which later turn into MY baby. Kosaki and I together put a lot of heart and dedication into this project, but of course one more than the other (Slacker Kosaki!)... It sucks to see this go, and its harder to write this. Also, real quick I'd like to thank the other staff members and THEIR time that they've put into this... I know its been nothing short than tedious and difficult, but also rewarding.
I dont really know what else to say, so Im going to leave you with this. Before you flame, before you rage, before you hate all of us here for the rest of your RS cheating life, realize what we've done, what it took, and what we would have done if we were still allowed to. Realize that if we could keep our run going legal-problems free, we might have done so for a while... but alas, all good things must come to an end. With things coming to end, take from this not hate, but gratitude that you were apart of history. History that we made a so-called empire so big and strong SO quickly, along with being SO detrimental to our target that they couldnt fight without going the route they knew they would win. History that we overcame each and every obstacle they threw at us, and continued to persevere through when we thought we hit a wall only to come out bettering ourselves. If you take one thing from this, please take that.
With that being said, I wish you all farewell and good luck on all of your future endeavors. I will of course idle on IRC still, and will pop onto MSN for a while. Personally, I do not know where this leaves me in my programming life (probably where I started, no where), but I know what Ive gained and where I can go. You should look at it that way too. As that as it may be, #kbot forever, and I will always rep us no matter where I go...
Thank you for everything you have given to me.
