Adobe premier pro 2.0 is good I've used it in video production at school.
I had heard that Sony Vegas 8.0 is also a good program I've never used it.
If you need a link for any program/application/game PM me i'll get you a
    rapidshare link or torrent.

    Good Video Editor?

Windows movie maker for simple stuff like adding text and merging videos together

Sony vegas pro for more advanced effects, like lighting, better text affects, bluring, and all the other image/text effects possible

Ugh, Sony Vegas, iMovie (especially the newest one), and Windows Movie Maker aren't all that great.
And After Effects isn't really used for what the original poster is trying to achieve. -_-

    Good Video Editor?

I use Magix Movie Editor and Sony Vegas 8.

If you think Sony Vegas is bad, just watch Synced 2 on YouTube.
I know it's an Counter-Strike movie, but that was edited with Sony Vegas, and shows how it kicks major ass when it comes to editing.

Heres a link to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaVCD_8pSE4

I know that Photoshop and other programs was used aswell.

    Good Video Editor?

Using Sony Vegas isn't immediately going to make your video that good.
Also, if you hand a professional artist a set of crayons, he'll still be able to create a better image than if you pulled a random person you pull off of the street and gave him a set of professional grade colored pencils.
Furthermore, how "good" a video editing solution is considered depends on how it compares with the other video editing programs.
Ok, so that video was created with Sony Vegas. Is it a good video? Sure. Would people pay to watch it? Probably not.
Whereas videos like these (created in Final Cut Pro) made huge profits:
