Right now im on a limited data usage plan. I recently heard that some internet providers use up more of your data then some others when watching the same video or downloading the same thing or what ever. Would any one care to explain? because i seem to go through 1-2gb a day easy just playing games while back 2-3 years ago i would play games and only hit 400mb's max daily on another internet provider.

I highly doubt that's true unless some are compressing it more than others which I thought was only on mobile networks. Think about the graphic changes, extra features, bigger maps etc games these days have, this is why your bandwidth is getting used up more than 2-3 years ago. Think about it, 2-3 years ago the images may have 2-3MB these days they'd be more like 6-9MB with all the new HD etc.

You can use NetLimiter to monitor the usage you use each day and which application is using it

Most isp's are setting limits on data usage. Check out mine from last month. I COMPLETELY violated my limit.

Anyway, most ISP's should have a meter somewhere, like mine.

Holy fuck aha. I seriously hope you don't have a charge for every GB over your monthly limit.

Dank can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he modded his modem to get past that.

    On topic though:
I seriously doubt usage varies from provider to provider. The differences in bandwidth can probably be attributed to increased playtime, different games using different amounts of bandwidth, etc. You might also want to look into some network monitoring software to keep track of what is really eating up all the bandwidth.

Just go with an unlimited bandwidth DSL reseller. I use one and service is terrific, plus no caps, speed and price are both good too. I'm not sure about elsewhere, but those types of ISPs LITTER Canada :p There are like 5 based out of here in Toronto alone.
