Go to OP when clicking on thread

Hey guys

Not sure whether this is a bug or not but when I click on a thread, it goes to last page/last post instead of OP.
Can this be changed back so it goes to OP ? Kinda annoying having to click on page 1 every time.

Still kinda annoying when browsing through sythe, looking for gold or something. Since it will almost always take you to last post because it's a new/unseen thread.

 

I believe it goes to the last page/post you viewed (which is actually an upgrade) but I think there should be an option to revert it back to how it was before.

 

Yea some other Runescape related sites have this as well, very annoying if you ask me.

I'm not sure what you mean.

For me on mobile and using this samsung mobile browser and using Chrome browser it goes to the first page on every thread I click.

Have you tried using a different browser?

In future issues with xen are best acknowledged in BugTracker, make a report questioning whether its a bug, or feature request.

 

I use chrome as well on my S7 and it goes to the last page.

Do me a favour and check what your thread display options are? ( located at the bottom of each section, I.e. click suggestions and scroll down) I'm just curious if it is relevant.

Mine is set to; sort thread by 'last message time' and display thread in 'descending order'.

It's always been like this? If you want to go to the first page, go within the forum and click on the page number "1".

 

This was the same on vBulletin IIRC with respect to going to the last page if you already viewed the thread. However, I think now if you haven't viewed the thread before/there aren't any updates since you last viewed it, it will take you to the first page. Usually whenever thread titles are bold it will take you to the last page last unread post. It always did bug me so I would support going to OP on the click of the thread in every instance.

So in this case you are forcing people to go to the last page, then click on the first page, then scroll to the appropriate post. I wouldn't really say "force", more likely it is just a big nuisance.

TL;DR: Support.

 

Going into the forum and clicking on the thread will always bring you to the first page. What you see on the outside are recent posts, which will bring you to the most recent post (last page). It's working as intended.

 

First one worked fine, next 3 went to last page.

lol I don't know what to say, you're just wrong. I literally just tried with a bunch of different threads and I was sent to different pages when I was in the forum itself (not clicking on threads from outside/homepage). Matter of fact, I was sent to page 2 of a thread and right in the middle of it even though it had 4 pages. Not quite sure I understand the mechanism now.

 

This whole situation is really confusing.

On any thread, I'm always sent to the first page, when clicking thread title. UNLESS the thread has (as per @hamouzes' pic) new replies, which when clicking will take you straight to the new posts (last page). I guess like @Kiro said. It is working as intended.

Yep I totally understand the frustration now!

I'm unsure what it looks like on desktop, but if we could feature request in Bugtracker* whether it's possible to have threads showing page 1.....8..9.10 . Maybe that would be better. Especially for newcomers.

*I'm gonna keep saying in Bugtracker, because xen-related feature requests should be queried there. If you haven't made a report I'll put one up there.

 

Can you show a gif/video of you demonstrating that? I've just tried 10 different threads and got the same result.

 

Any other opinions?

 

I actually enjoy this feature and have gotten accustomed to it, I wouldn't want to get it changed back.
