God - does he exist?

If I'm not mistaken, a "happy-lah-dee-dah land" is what God had in mind when he "created" the earth.

 

God does exist things in the Bible tie in with history

 

All 6000 years of history, right?

No, he wouldn't think that. Think of a world where everything is right, and good, and positive. What kind of world would we live in? A lot of people ask, why does God make pain and suffering? Because without pain and suffering, we wouldn't thank the greatness of joy and happiness.

 

You are mistaken my friend. When God created the earth, he created adam and eve. They, and their decendants were to live in the Garden of Eden forever in eternal happiness and bliss. This is what God had in mind, temptation is what corrupted man and created the world we have today. I'll get some quotes out of the bible if I need to.

Yes, before that time, there was Satan, an arch angel. Of course he tempted mankind into taking food from the Tree of Good and Evil Knowledge, in our world today...there is Satan and God, everyone should know that. So, you do agree that there is a God?

 

Ok , its kinda annoying when pple quote Pascals wager when they dont read the full thing - Pascal further complicates the matter by taking into consideration if u had 3 or 4 lives ....

So:

1) I believe in God. Why? I just do. Thats my personal opinion.
2) To play devils advocate, read the aethists wager which contradicts Pascals wager.
3) Almost every religion has contradictions in it. You can decide this is proof god doesnt exist, OR u can decide that god isnt completely tied down to religion, and even if a religion is false that does not mean god does not exist.

Aethists wager: In summary god is more likely to take someone who's intelligent and decides for himself whether god exists, than someone who mindlessly follows what others have sed. Its a little more complicated this but u get the point. So an aethist assumes p(God exists but values reason)+p(god doesnt exist) > p(God exists but punishes for thinking, and then deciding against him)

(BTW: I've posted this on "Why be an aethist?" and "God- does he exist" because they both basically have the same points. If someones mentioned my points already, soz , i got bored after the second page =P )

 

To be honest, I've gone from Christianity (as it is how I was raised), to athism, to now being unsure. I do believe we control our own destiny. I don't know that I believe in Christianity as there are so many things about it that contradict everything that makes sense. Do I believe that a higher power had a hand in the creation of earth? Maybe. I don't belive that earth just appeared as it is today a short 6000 years ago.

Perhaps I should just take up Nihilism.

 

Yeah, I still believe in free-will, and making our own choices. You know, it's not being CONTOLLED by God...but God sort of steers your way. It didn't happen 6000 years ago...there's a huge gap that we don't know about in Genesis.

 

Jut because jesus was a man, doesnt mean god is a man.

Who said God was a man? And obviously, he's not. He's like, ahhh...hard to explain. A superior spirt-like anything up in the heavens. And yes they do.

Well for all I can think that there should be no "God", but as I saw before there is something and someone asked what does he do there? Well I think he makes some problems(like some nature problems: tornados, vulcanos, earthquakes and stuff) for us that we would not destroy the world so fast.. Thats because when there is some problem like that we are working together in groups and we are being friendly to everyone.

But thats only what I thinked when I was reading this topic.. For all I care there is no "God" or there is something, but he is not that way that we think "GOD" is...

I believe there is a god. Their is no proof to either side, however the concept of there being a higher being then i being a god, is completely understandable. In fact, our "god" may just be another organism like us (humans of course) but bigger, and way more advanced, and we are to them as ants are to us. So we are by smaller organisms their god (i guess its possible) so god is a being but way bigger then us

 

Well, who created that God?

 

Since if God existed he would be the supreme one, therefore being all superior and extreme to our own knowledge. He is more superior and powerful than science, therefore us humans cannot prove what created him. Maybe it's an eternity of Gods and Gods and Gods...I don't know.

 

He is saying that God might be just a high level organism. If that is so, then it must have come from somewhere.
