    God - does he exist?

What about those who believe in religion, because it seems real to them?
I don't feel that way about religion, it's pretty real to me. I don't really WANT to be believe in God, because I feel like it feels very nice for someone up in the heavens to watch over me.

    God - does he exist?

Well, I don't believe in god, because there is no proof he exists.
Imo he's just made up, because it's hard to believe there's nothing after life.
People just needed to solve mysteries.

    God - does he exist?

That has no impact regarding a reasonable discussion of God's existence.

    God - does he exist?

Honestly, observing and thinking about the beginning of our lives, and how we start, I consider that there has to be some sort of after-life. It's strange just thinking that once we die, we just die. We just become nothing, just a corpse, part of the world. How can people have been seeing a white light on near-death experiences?

Actually, DMT, one of the most potent psychoactive drugs there is, is produced naturally by the pituitary gland. It's produced during certain stages of sleep, and in bulk as the brain dies. Users of this drug report a feeling of oneness with the universe, encounters with God, and so on and so forth. THAT is how people see that white light.

Also, it's hard to accept that life ends because you've known nothing else. You cannot conceive of going into nothingness, so you project an extra stage of your life ahead of you.

Well that's certainly a new theory. I find it a bit hard to fathom, but hey who knows.

Yes, that can actually be a point in it. I was just looking through occurences with the heavens or God. And by the way, that isn't the link for the DMT drug.

Why would you care? You're dead, and majority people we know, probably end up going to hell, if there is one. It's probably better for life to ACTUALLY end, then to spend an eternity in a lake of fire and a demon with a pitchfork up your ass. I can think as life, going into nothingness. But it doesn't seem quite right, and no, I'm not just "hoping" and trying to "comfort" myself.

    God - does he exist?

Yeah, I remember I said something similar.
    EDIT: http://www.sythe.org/showpost.php?p=1954914&postcount=88

Ug... these threads bring too much deja vu.
Unless new points are introduced, it'd be more effective to just grave dig old thread(s) about God.

    Wow, what the hell? Strange.

True true. That... "this thread disproves God entirely" completely died out in August. Most likely, this one will too. What ever happened to dpunk, anyway?

I'm still here. I've just had a lot on my plate and haven't been as active lately. I think I've gotten most of it out of the way, so I'll probably start being a bit more active now.

I ment "How can you live believing that".

Its not a discussion it was a question.

I couldnt be living knowing that everything I have and will ever get will be gone one day, so I asked him how he could live not believing in some sort of afterlive.

Well, it's how it always was. Nothing has changed. I am alive here, and now, and I might as well enjoy it while I can. There are billions of people that could have been me, you know, yet somehow, "I" was lucky enough to be born before it's too late.

According to what I think, this is the best it's going to get. I will live once, and that is it. Why not enjoy it?

...Why can you only live once? Why can there not be a possibility for an after-life? It can get better.

    God - does he exist?

Ok so lets think about this, if there was no god then i suppose we could have all been created by 'chemical reactions' but i mean how can chemical reactions create a conscience and feelings? And also theoretically the universe could not have just origionated for absolutly nothing, there would have had to have been gases or whatever in the atmosphere in order for the big bang to happen, but then where did the gases come from. I have always not beileved in god but reviewing it like this i think that it is at least possible.

    Anyone dis/agree?

I know that there is no other way of living if you do not believe in god, and I know that it is simply a question of accepting it, But I still just cant imagine how one could be living and do his best in this world, yet knowing that none of it will really matter at the end.
