So basically, I like this girl. Planning on kissing her but found out she have had cold sores on her lips, Which is simplex herpes, from what I read. Now I read Once it goes away, it still in her but "hidden" as it said in the article. Now if I was to kiss her would I get simplex herpes too? I feel so childish asking this kind of question.

Simple answer is PROBABLY yes, cold sores are extremely transmittable. I guess there's some off-chance that you wouldn't get them but i think you're better counting on that you would get them. No question is a childish one, and good for you for being concerned about it!

If I were you, I would be on the safe side and not kiss her. You wouldn't want to take the risk.

Cold sores are contagious, but not really a big deal since everyone gets them at one point or another.

That was what I'm thinking, But I don't exactly know. I mean I see it as somewhat good cause I'm getting it out of the way and not have to worry about it later in life but at the same time, From what I read they're pretty annoying.

If you get cold sores frequently you can just take Abreva. I've had them my whole life, probably from a shared cup with my siblings or mother when I was little, and they never bother me. I've learned to sense how they feel when they first start to grow, and applying Abreva for the rest of that day nips them in the bud every time. Even without Abreva, they're not really bad. A little itchy and inflamed, but there's no pain or any health risks.

However, it's always good to be safe. If you like her enough and she likes you enough, the kiss can wait until hers flare down. If you have never had a cold sore, you are immune until you contract the virus. When you do contract it, you are then diseased for life. They spring up and go away at seemingly random intervals. Some people get them more frequently than others.

I think jumping to the conclusion that it's Herpes could be a mistake.. Common teenage skin conditions would be far more likely.

Stay safe and wait till it's COMPLETELY gone. Wouldn't recommend going anywhere near that stuff, although it's very common, it's also very disgusting.

I kissed a girl once who had a cold sore but I didn't know she had it.. her cold sore got even bigger the next day.
It was as if she transmitted it to me but I was somehow anti-contagious and transmitted the germs back with an even stronger force.
Just felt like sharing :)

Chances are you already have it, if i remember correctly anyway, like in the majority of people who have herpes simplex 1 don't show symptoms.
Just wait until it's all cleared up and don't have any cuts/sores on your lips as well i guess, read up about it also :P

I would wait 1-2 weeks before you kiss her possibly longer my brother got cold sores from kissing his girlfriend and they kissed even when he had them and she never broke out so idk man :D just wait and if you arent ready to share this stuff with her she probably isnt the girl for you :) if she was you wouldn"t care

Id wait it out. Its hard to say. IVE BEEN TOLD..... that the herpes virus is only transmittable when they have an outbreak and its visible. But who is to say that even tho you cant see it, there is still the 'bumps' there, just smaller. But I dont know... you dont know for sure if she really has 'herpes' either. Could have just been misinformed. But, just for now.. maybe get to know her a little more, and try and find out if thats really true.
