He used to "sell" gp for other ranks at "higher" prices then take ridiculous cuts of the amount or just not pay them at all, happened a few times while I was ranked there, none of this surprises me at all.

edit: not sure why anyone did that, its not hard to sell gold yourself
edit2: he used his position in the clan as a symbol of trust so he basically manipulated people into thinking they were doing the right thing
