    BUMP

any ideas to upgrade or anything???

i dont wana buy then find out i could of got a way better one for still under $1000

EDIT: i will be doing alot of multi media (video encoding) on it and sometimes DJin so i like to have a lot of ram to ensure never to run out...
if i had only 4gb it would sit on about 90% and start to lagg a tiny bit... :)

    (tested with my friends pc)

I7's are good, thu the top of the range i5's can be overclocked to be as good as the adverige i7 (if you get the i5-750 can be overclocked to 4.0ghz with no overheating)

Great, but plenty more than $1000.

The core i7 handles anything I throw at it. It handles anything you want to throw at it and more. Plenty of programs open and all of them are running faster than you could believe. Best purchase I've ever made.

By the way, that processor doesn't fit in that mobo. o_O

If it's a challenge of constructing a gaming computer under 1000$ dollars...shouldn't it encompass 'legal' products. I could get the whole gaming computer for free if I really wanted to, by stealing one, but where's the challenge in that?
Also, who would want a 'gaming' computer with a piss weak integrated sound card.

If this was legit you would have included the full price of a OS in the challenge.

Thats some full on gaming right there, that ram is probably more then $1000... :p

Also, if u want a full on gaming computer get a I7-980X with 12GB ram and a asus gt9800 grahpics card (1GB Dedicated memroy in the g card)
its all up about $2000 - $6000... depending what else u get in it....

Edit: did u say the processer wont fit in the motherboard? Do u mean the i5 im getting wont fit in?

Are you seriously pairing an i5 with a 9800GT?

    Holy fuck.

    1) Ditch the RAM. You only need 4GB for W7 unless you're doing some serious multitask photoshopping.
    2) Get something quite a bit stronger, like a 4850 or better, so that it isn't bottlenecking that i5.
    3) Do you really need a $160 dvd burner? You can get a regular one for $30.

    This.
You never really need more than 4gb unless you're doing some really heavy 3d work...
