If we created such a forum, I'd expect a ton of scam websites to come up and the forum to mostly be used for advertisement.

As online poker is forbidden in the US for most states, I don't think it's a topic that would receive a lot of discussion.

I've watched and played poker for almost 13 years now and I don't see sub-forum benefiting Sythe in any way. Sorry.

I think it'd actually draw some activity. Sure many websites will be advertised; however, are many sites not already advertised? People will go with the big name websites, with people who have a lot of trust. Many would stay away from scam sites, or people who have no reputation.

I think a revamp of the subsection in the sand box where people have their dicing threads and actually making a good section for people to gamble would be good. People always loved gambling :p

Two arguments that I think could be strongly made against this discussion are:

    1. A gambling subsection brings the possibility of online gambling to the light, even more so than already has been. If the average Sythe user has happened to not stumble across the online gambling community, thus far, and they should see this subsection, they will have a wealth of information regarding where to and how to gamble online.

This is productive to the gambling sites, but not to Sythe's marketplace. The reason being why, losing the gamble is the history of the trade. Immense studies have been shown confirming that gambling is compulsive and will in turn compel you to take actions you would normally not in order to fulfill that compulsion. For example, SCAMMING.

Now I know Sythe's users have a long history with dabbling in the various forms of Runescape and other related gambling, but to promote it on your homepage is a different story, which leads me to my next point.

    2. If you visit any of these current poker sites being promoted for RuneScape poker, you'll see one of their primary rules are not to discuss RWT. This should be more strictly enforced than it is. All capitol and current investments in such a project could be lost in an instant if the government were to investigate such a site and find that it was associated with say, a gold site, along with almost surely legal action. Especially when the rake they take off of pots is the product they sell.

The association and promotion of such endeavors on Sythe could possibly leave them as affiliates, and possibly have similar outcomes. Yes, I say possibility, but is the income from this site and all future income worth that possibility?

With that being said and with further thought on the subject I do not support and even go so far as to suggest the removal of certain advertisements.

I'd support this in a sense that a thread would be created to serve a sole purpose of hosting poker games, but I don't think it warrants a new section, or even sub-section.

    I abstain from voting.

There would be no scam websites, online gambling websites are regulated by gaming commissions.

Regarding US, American players could only player on certain websites where they are allowed to sign up (such as AmericasCardroom, link in my sig).

Online games and online transactions are very relevant to online gaming, so it deserves at least a sub-forum. I could volunteer and pick the most popular sites and create threads for each of them and members could comment in those threads, but not create new ones (I am a moderator of the most popular Lithuanian poker forum).

Sort of off topic but what do you suggest would happen to the donor lounge thread?

It was so funny how a few days ago a Sythe member recognised me on PokerStars!

Support the gambling section. Having a poker section alone would make it too specific/too little people are gonna participate.
