Ive seen many people on sythe giving incorrect answers to their computer problems.

I am currently in a computer class in my school. I know how to build computers and troubleshoot them. In August I am going to become A+ certified (which will make me a certified computer technician)

So if you have any computer problems ill be happy to answer them. (And you wont get any BS answers)

Well since the person isn't answering, I guess I will. Yes, dell is pretty good, they offer good prices for average PC's. But there gaming PC's are far over the price they should be. ASUS is better for gaming PC's.

Dell sucks, even though I have one (I didn't buy it). You can buy a computer for half the price with the same stuff in the case.

I'm getting my A+ around the same time. Good luck to you :)

Find me a computer with an x2 3600, Windows Vista, a gig of RAM for under 450 bucks, or stop spreading bullshit.

Dell is great if you're buying a computer for under 700 dollars, after that you can build a better one for the price.

No Dell is a horrible company to buy from at the moment, it is extremely hard to upgrade hardware yourself, let alone if you lose your xp disk with all the "dell harware drivers" you gotta get a fresh copy from the dell manufactuer overall its rated good for people who dont understand computers, but for people who know about computers and know what you can get for what price they will understand why not to buy a dell.

Agreed, and good luck Ive complete my course, not hard at all if you know a decent amount of knowledge about the "computer guts" if you know what i mean.

Except with what I just said Dell is cheaper and easier to use.

Dell about 3-4 years ago used to be a bitch with proprietary parts and doing things like soldiering the processor onto the motherboard so you couldn't take it off, but now they are a perfectly good company.

If you can get it cheaper from Dell (which you can with Laptops and cheaper PC's) do it.

IMO you shouldn't waste your time.

Just go buy the books at Barnes and Noble (They have plenty), and take classes you like in High School. If you have no knowledge of computers..that is a toughie. Go read one of the A+ prep books at Barnes and Noble and see if you understand anything in it. If you don't just take a general computer class at your school, and then buy a book.

Your school could also have an A+ class, I know mine had one but it never existed due to not enough people signing up for the class.

Generally you will get a rather cheaper system if you put it together yourself than if you buy it from Dell. Though if you are not in the position of building your own computer, then I do believe Dell is a good option. Also Dell's technical support is known to be rather lax, and leaves something to be desired for... Though I do guess that these days more and more companies fall victim to offshore shipping their jobs in the competitiveness of today's market.

Something like, Building your own computer > Dell > Direct Manufacturers (eg. Acer, IBM etc.) > Companies selling systems (eg. Officeworks, Dicksmith).

I built my own computer, and then made the same one on the Dell website, and I saved around $200-$300.

ok i have a big problem. I just downloaded hypercam and i was playing around with it when up pops this message that says windows media was not the current version. So i continue on and i download everything needed and restart is. After restarting my pc i click on windows media and it says i need to make sure that my version of windows is genuine so i run the test and it says i dont have a genuine version. So then i click the link that says validate your version, so then i click on it and while it is loading the page i loose connection and it exits out. so i click on windows media again and it and i do the whole verify thing again and the link isnt there. So now i cant use windows media.. what can i do to get the old version back or be able to use the new version?

Well the first thing you should do it make sure you have all the Windows updates go to:

    http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

If that dosent work you may be able to install the older version of Windows media player.

Go to |Start|Control panel| Add And remove Windows Components (on the left)|

The click on Windows Media Player and click next. That will uninstall it then reinstall it the same way you uninstalled it.
