Frequent IRC Rank

Posting on sythe and the irc have nothing to do with eachother...

 

That made no sense... you would not be someone helping people... it is just a rank to show you spend a lot of time on IRC.

Ok, Firstly the IRC is mainly for sythe users, thus being irc.sythe.org. The way the ranks would wor;, would be up to the IRC staff, i really couldn't care who, i justed used Verts as an example as shes always on lol.

They give the irc a bit of publicity for people to join in on the irc and get more involved, thus all the members these days wanting ranks and stuff, this one can actually be earn than brought.

I don't think its such a bad idea if it can be modded, thus having suggested IRC staff can that do that >_>

But I don't support any incorporation of the IRC into the forums.

I agree that it should be used when the situation isn't out of control, like when File gets back, but then and only then will this truly be settled.


Plus, the rank was a gift to File from Fouisgras on his 21st b-day, it was administered since then, but since File isn't here, it was removed.

People are getting mixed up here. The FREQUENT IRC user rank means you visit a lot, not that you spend a lot of time on the IRC.

 

No it doesn't. File handed it out to people who showed exceptional ability in the IRC, cared about it, was in there often, and didn't cause problems.

 

Agreed, IRC is given to much power in general.

I don't support. Not many users go on IRC as compared to all the users who post on the forums.

According to your logic, there shouldn't be a VB Programmer Rank, because a majority of the users don't use it. And there shouldn't be a Donator Rank, because a majority of the users don't donate. See my point?

Each rank makes people want achieve something.

VB Programmer: Makes people want to become a half decent programmer in Visual Basic.

Donator: Makes people want to donate to Sythe and reap the benifits.

Any Mod Rank: Makes people want to become good enough at something to be able to moderate it.

 

I support. Will make people want to go into the IRC and will make it abit better im assuming.

 

As long is it's only allowed to either the IRCops or veterans/staffs. Or people who are just in there all day long and won't just leave stop coming on as often as before.

But honestly, I don't see what's useful about it besides looking cool.

I disagree IRC is not legit, nothing to do with Sythe.

 

But only people from Sythe use the IRC. So therefor it is incorporated with Sythe, and should deserve a rank on the forums.

I never use the IRC and even I think the rank should come back. It was nice to see them around sometimes. They never did any harm, so I don't see the problem.

Exactly, you haven't used the IRC, so you don't know the meaning ...

The IRC rank tells you who is often in the IRC and is well knowledged (back in the day), now it'd just be a popularity thing. But the problem with it is that it's not ACTUALLY related to Sythe at all. In fact, Sythe doesn't even support the IRC, he says it's a "place for trolls".

Furthermore, more banned people go on the IRC, than actual members. It's used by the respectable oldies, well, used to be mainly for cool people...

Nowadays a bunch of random people join the IRC to talk about RuneScape and such...It's rather boring.
