How and Where to Stake​

Staking occurs at the Duel Arena, which can be teleported to by the Ring of Dueling. The most common staking world is world 54.

Melee Boxing

One of the most popular forms of staking is the melee box. You just punch and kick each other.

Ideal Stats: 99/99/99/99 (Attack, Strength, Defense, HP)

You can increase your chances of winning by style switching. In Style Switching, all you do is click the appropriate attack styles at the right moment. If you are about to get attacked, switch to Defensive Block, and after you are attacked, switch to Punch or Kick. Try and get into a mode while doing this, it makes it easier to switch at the right time.

Each option gives an invisible boost. The Punch option gives +3 to attack, Kick gives +3 to strength, and Block gives +3 to defense. So you can take advantage of both the offensive and defensive bonuses while style switching.

Mage Boxing​

Pretty much all you do in Mage boxing is stand there without armor and cast spells on each other.

Ideal Stats: 1/1/99/99/99 (Attack, Strength, Defense, HP, Magic)

The most common spell of mage boxing is Blood Barrage. The blood spells heal 25% of whatever you hit on your opponent, which make them awesome for staking.

The best way to mage box is to toggle defensive casting, and not use auto-cast. You get an invisible +3 Defensive bonus when you do defensive casting.

At the beginning, if you're sure you can get the 1st hit, start off with Smoke or Shadow Barrage. Smoke Barrage has a chance to poison your opponent. You're not losing out on the healing effect of Blood Barrage, as you already have full health.

When you have your opponent to about 25%, switch to blitz spells. The lower-leveled the spell is, the higher chance it has of hitting.

As suggested by T M, shadow spells are more accurate than blood spells. However, you only want to use a shadow spell at the beginning of the fight while you are still on/close to max hp. However, once you get damaged, using blood spells will become more useful, due to the healing process.

The Storm of Armadyl spell is unlocked after doing Ritual of the Majharrat (ROTM). It it alternatively used in place of ancients for Mage Boxing. SoA is on the regular spell book, so SoA is really the only spell that is advised to be used. One downfall of using SoA is that you don't get blood spells, so you cannot heal. But be aware, Storm of Armadyl spell hits very high and accurately. It will win most fights over ancients. Always be aware of that spell.

Rapier Stakes

Rapier staking is pretty much the same as Melee Boxing Stakes, but with the weapon toggled on.

Ideal Stats: 99/99/99/99/80+ (Attack, Strength, Defense, HP, Dungeoneering)




DDS Stakes

DDS stakes consist of Melee Boxing Stakes, but with the weapon and special attacks toggled on.

Ideal Stats: 99/99/99/99/80* (Attack, Strength, Defense, HP, Dungeoneering)

DDS Stakes are one of the biggest duels known for scamming. More than half of all DDS stakers take out a Staff of Light once in the duel, and use the special attack on that to win. The SOL special attack halves melee damage for 1 minute as long as the staff is equipped. The staff is a decent melee weapon, so the Staff user usually beats the DDS user.


There are two ways to beat out a Staff of Light user.

One way is to turn obstacles on, and run around the obstacles for a minute, allowing the Staff of Light special to run out.

The other way is to use the Elite Enhanced Excalibur and a Rapier. If you see your opponent is using a Staff, switch from your DDS to your Excalibur, and use the special. Switch to your rapier after that, and attack the scammer. On average, for every loss you have with this method, you will have about 1.75 wins.

Common Scams​

Many people in staking will try and scam you. When boxing, you should watch out for people:

- Leaving the shield option, or any other equipment option, on

- Enabling Summoning

- Using mage boxing rules in a melee boxing match, or vice versa

- Putting up a different amount of money. 100k looks very similar to 1000k, so make sure you double check the amount being staked every time.

- Yelling to find a fight while advertising another similar name with lower stats. When you see someone with an odd name that is hard to read always watch his name twice. Watch out for not mistaking: little 'L' with big 'i'. And big 'o' with the number '0'.

PiD​

PiD stands for Player ID. When you log into a world, you are given a random Player ID number. If you have a lower PiD than your opponent, you will hit them first. This is very helpful for stakes with big hits, such as rapier or mage box stakes.

There is a way to determine if your PiD is lower than your opponent's. When you are on the first screen during the challenge process, make sure you hit accept first. You can do this by putting your stake amount last, then quickly hitting accept. Watch closely during the transition between the 1st and 2nd screens. If the 2nd screen instantly shows up after you hit accept, you have the lower PiD, and will get the 1st hit. If there is a period of a second or so where there is no screen, you have the higher PiD, and will not get the 1st hit, so either decline and log out then log back in, or just deal with it.

If you find you won't get the 1st hit, it's up to you whether to continue with the stake. The first hit could be meaningless, or it could decide the stake, you just don't know.

Another way to determine if your PiD is high or low is to follow someone, and when they move, if you lag behind them, you have a low PiD. If you follow them, and as soon as they move, you move with them, you have relatively high PiD. Like said earlier, if you are not satisfied with your PiD, log out then back in and test again.

Staking Strategies​

There are many strategies when it comes to staking, and every one of them relies on luck.

With all of these strategies, only use what you're willing to lose.

- Doubling Strategy
Every time you lose a stake, double your next bet. This allows you to make a profit every time you win a stake. You will keep doing this until you win, or lose all of your money. There is a common misconception that you probably won't get cleaned using this method.

Say you have a 30m stack, doing 1m minimum stakes, you need to win 30 stakes to double your money. There is a 1/31 chance that you lose 5 stakes in a row. Mathematically, on your 31st stake, you will get cleaned (Obviously this isn't always the case, but it does happen.)

Example: You have a 30m stack.
1m stake: Win - 31M Stack
1m stake: Loss - 30M Stack
2m stake: Loss - 28M Stack
4m stake: Loss - 24M Stack
8m stake: Loss - 16M Stack
16m stake: Win - 32M Stack

Or another outcome as suggested by this user:

- Risk Strategy
I define a risk strategy as any time you stake 1/2 or more of your stack. These stakes are always exciting. If you win, the profits could be enormous and very worth it.

- "Safe" Strategy
Using this strategy, you stake 1/10 of your stack, no matter what. The odds of getting cleaned doing this are extremely low, but the odds of making alot of money are low as well.

Glitches​

I haven't really staked in a while, so I will try my best on the current glitches.
Well, for example as suggested by Venom, if a stake seems too good to be true, it probably is! That level 40 (hypothetical) might just as well kick your ass while staking by abusing a bug/glitch. You always have to watch out for them. You also will get DDoS'ed sometimes, which means they kick you off the internet, you become unresponsive during the duel, and you lose.

Cleaned...​

So you have been cleaned. Don't give up there, you have to rebuild, and go stake some more. Almost everyone who gets cleaned always goes back, including myself. A few ways to rebuild are:

• Buy GP
• Borrow GP from a friend
• Go skill/PvM/PvP

Just don't give up if you get cleaned, as you will most likely rage, and then be back to staking.

F.A.Q​

Can I stake?

Anyone can stake, but in order to have success with it, you'll need the right stats, and a bit of starting money. If you care about your bank, and have worked hard to get it, staking might not be for you. It's very possible to lose everything.


Is it easy to make money staking?

Yes and no. I've made and lost billions staking.

What's the best account for staking?

In my opinion, the most exciting would have to be melee or magic boxing. They both can change any moment and usually go for the most amount of money in total staking.
