Need help programming JButtons GUI in Java eclipse.

I'm quite new to Java still so struggling a little bit as its my first time trying to use GUI, so JButtons are new to me. I can create the JButtons (as graphics) but I'm struggling to set commands for them once there clicked.

I'm sure this is really basic stuff for anyone that is use to doing it, would appreciate the help - can even pay if needed.

If you still don't understand it after that, just search around the net for info regarding ActionListeners and binding them to different GUI objects in Java. You might also prefer a form designer, but you should probably learn to do it by hand first.

 

Thanks for the help, I managed to find bits online like that example, however I don't just need buttons that perform the close action.

I was struggling with setting commands such as Adding 'x' to an array list then printing it out. Where 'x' is a in a drop down calendar of sorts adding to a diary say.

Then I need one to allow me to search through the things in the diary, display, add, delete etc.
