    1. Introduction

In this guide I will show you how to achieve 99 mining. It is a long journey and very tedious, but worth it as you can make millions from it! :)

NOTE: Before you start, you should mine in the most populated worlds as the rocks will respawn faster. This is how you find the most populated worlds:

    Click "World Select"

Press the two arrows I highlighted in red.

    2. Pickaxes

There are 6 types of pickaxes available in F2P. They all require a certain mining level to use. The higher your mining level, the better pickaxe you can use. When you reach the required level, you should always use the best pickaxe as it means faster training and possibly faster money!

    [IMG] Bronze Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 1
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 1gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 7gp

    [IMG] Iron Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 1
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 140gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 216gp

    [IMG] Steel Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 6
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 500gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 596gp

    [IMG] Mithril Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 21
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 1,300gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 655gp

    [IMG] Adamant Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 31
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 3,200gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 1,824gp

    [IMG] Rune Pickaxe [IMG]
Level Required to use - 41
    Price (Dwarven Mines) - 32,000gp
    Price (Grand Exchange) - 19,200gp

Overall, buying all the pickaxes from the Grand Exchange would save you 16,117gp. You will need a little over 21k to buy all the pickaxes so, just to be safe, you will need 22k.

Once you have 22k, head over to the Grand Exchange.

Buy every pickaxe except a bronze pickaxe, since you can already use an iron pickaxe at level 1 Mining. One you have obtained these items you can now start mining!

    3. Training: Level 1 - 21

There are two ways in which you can progress in mining. Remember to use your steel pickaxe at level 6. These levels will go by quickly so just stay on track to your goal!

    Option A - Normal Mining

Use this option if you want to also get good experience whilst also making a profit by selling the ores or turning them into bars to raise smithing. Since your only level 1, your best bet is to mine copper and tin. There are two places in which you can mine and bank copper and tin effectively:

    Varrock South West Mine

Players under Combat Level 13 should watch out for the Level 6 Mugger as he is aggresive.

    Varrock South East Mine

You should mine half copper and half tin per inventory. Once your inventory is full, deposit the ores in the bank. I have provided the route just incase you didn't know :D It will take 287 copper/tin ores to reach 21 Mining. Since you want to mine an even number of both, you should mine 144 of each.

Click here to view the current price of Copper Ore

Click here to view the current price of Tin Ore

    Option B - Money Making

Use this option if you don't care about experience and just want money. You will be mining clay since they bring in good money for you new players. You can also turn the clay into soft clay buy using a bucket/jug of water with the clay. The best place to mine clay is:

    Varrock South West Mine

Players under Combat Level 13 should watch out for the Level 6 Mugger as he is aggresive.

The good thing is that once you mine clay, it re-appears instantly! However, your only getting 5 experience for every clay you mine so only use this option if you want the money. It will take 1,004 piece of clay to reach 21 Mining.

Click here to view the current price of Clay

Click here to view the current price of Soft Clay

    4. Training: Level 21 - 60

Now you are level 21 you can use your mithril pickaxe. Remember to use your adamant pickaxe at level 31, and use your rune pickaxe at level 41. These levels will be boring, but it be easy as long as you are dedicated.

    Option A - Normal Mining + Money

Use this option if you want to get decent experience whilst also earning yourself money by either selling the iron ores or turning them into iron bars and selling them for even more money! There are two places I believe are suitable to mine iron.

    Varrock South-East Mine

    Falador Mine/Dwarven Mines

Players under Combat Level 29 will get attacked by the Level 14 Scorpions. Players under Combat Level 65 will get attacked by the lvl 32 King Scorpions! Scary!

It will take 7,678 iron ore to reach 60 Mining. This may seem like a lot but if you mine just 1,000 iron ores a day, you can easily reach 60 Mining in a week.

Click here to view the current price of Iron Ore

    Option B - Power Mining

You should use this option if you only want to quickly gain mining experience and don't care about money. You should mine as it give the quickest exp in F2P. Here is the method that you should use when power-mining:

Here are the best places to power-mine iron:

    Varrock South-East Mine

    Al-Kharid Mine

Players under Combat Level 29 will get attacked by the lvl 14 Scorpions.

It will take 7,678 iron ore to reach 60 Mining. This will go by much quicker than banking them but you are making no money.

    5. Training: Level 60 - 85

Give yourself a pat on the back because you've had reached 60 Mining! A lot of people would give up now but you should carry on mining and laugh in their faces! These are going to get harder and harder. Perhaps mine with a friend and keep yourself entertained through these stressful levels.

    Option A - Normal Mining

If you still want to make money and get decent experience, you should continue to mine iron. Here are the places suitable for mining and banking iron:

    Varrock South-East Mine

    Falador Mine/Dwarven Mines

Players under Combat Level 29 will get attacked by the lvl 14 Scorpions. Players under Combat Level 65 will get attacked by the lvl 32 King Scorpions! Scary!

You will need to mine 85,282 iron ores to reach 85 Mining. I would suggest trying to mine 2,000 iron ores a day and hopefully reaching 85 Mining in only a month and a half!

Click here to view the current price of Iron Ore

    Option B: Money Money Money!

If you don't really care about experience and just want money, then you should mine coal in the mining guild located in Falador. Here is the path from the bank to the guild:

It will take 59,698 pieces of coal to reach 85 Mining. This will take a lot longer than mining iron but just think about the money all the time to motivate yourself!

Click here to view the current price of Coal

    Option C: Power-Mining

If you just want experience, stick to power-mining. Here is the animation on how to power-mine iron effectively:

    Varrock South-East Mine

    Al-Kharid Mine

Players under Combat Level 29 will get attacked by the lvl 14 Scorpions.

It will take 85,282 iron ores to reach 85 Mining. Since your power-mining, you can't tell how much iron ores you have mined. I think you should just try your best and think about the stacks of cash you can cram into your bank once you are 85 Mining

    6. Training: Level 85 - 99

Option A - Money Money Money!

Once you've reached 85 mining, give yourself another pat on the back, because you are now able to make heaps of money! The only place to mine rune ore in F2P is in the wilderness. Here is a picture of the only place you can mine rune ore. It is located in the wilderness at Level 46!!!

Bring your best armour and good food that heals at least 10. It is worth the risk though, since you can easily make 350-450k an hour! The only downside is that rune ores take anywhere between 12-25 minutes to respawn depending on how populated the world is. I would advise you to hop worlds once you have mined one, and create a routine in which you can follow so that you can be the first to get to the rune ores! Once you get about 10 rune ores, you should bank them just to be safe.

It will take 78,207 rune ores to achieve 99 Mining. I wish you all the best!!! It's going to be a long road from here. Good Luck. :D

Click here to view the current price of Rune Ore

    Option B - Power Mining

If you just want experience, stick to power-mining. Here is the animation on how to power-mine iron effectively:

    Varrock South-East Mine

    Al-Kharid Mine

Players under Combat Level 29 will get attacked by the lvl 14 Scorpions.

I would only suggest this if you really badly want the mining cape. If it was up to me, I would raking in the money mining rune ores! It will take 279,310 iron ores which is a huge amount so just mine a couple hours a day and take breaks to keep healthy. :)

[IMG] Congratulations, you have now reached 99 mining! [IMG]

You can get your Mining Skillcape in Falador. Here is a picture of the location:

Like every other skillcape, you will need 99k to purchase the mining skillcape. Talk to this guy to obtain your Skillcape.

Unfortunately, since you are F2P, you cannot buy the skillcape :( Ah well! At least you made millions! Go buy a phat!

    6. Conclusion

This is just a short guide on what I've just explained.

    Option A - Normal Mining
Level 1 - 21: Mine & Bank 144 of both Copper and Tin.
    Level 21 - 60: Mine & Bank 7,678 Iron Ores.
    Level 60 - 85: Mine & Bank 85,282 Iron Ores
    Level 85 - 99: Mine & Bank 78,207 Rune ores.

    Option B - Money Making
    Level 1 - 21: Mine & Bank 1,004 Clay.
    Level 21 - 60: Mine & Bank 7,678 Iron Ores.
    Level 60 - 85: Mine & Bank 59,698 Coal.
    Level 85 - 99: Mine & Bank 78,207 Rune ores.

    Option C - Power-Mining
Level 1 - 21: Mine & Bank 144 of both Copper and Tin.
    Level 21 - 99: Power-mine 372,285 Iron Ores.

Hope you've enjoyed the guide. It took me a long time to make it and update it.

Please rate it out of 10. It would also be helpful if you could point out any errors or help me to improve the guide in anyway possible.

    Thank you guys,

Try use titles with big letters. Also use bold text and set colour on them. That would make your guide easier to read.
Else, I like the guide. It's very detailed and well written. Some may see on this as common sense, but I'm pretty sure there are lots of people that didn't know where to mine runite ores. Someone would also begin mining coal on 30 mining.
You could also add that it's smart to world hop while mining runite.
