I usually look to find the good in people; lately I have been spending some time on the dispute forum and boy am I unhappy with how FireZ has been taking care of things around there.

1) http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=926494
I addressed my concern a while ago on this thread, thinking it would bring some attention to the issue of FireZ's actions. It did not. In this instance FireZ banned someone, or rather, denied their appeal based on the fact that he "knows an awful lot about stealing".

2)
Secondly, today I came across this thread.

These are pieces of evidence why said user was banned:

"Seem to know how to "Secure" stolen accounts quite well."

Well FireZ, my friend is in the security industry, which deals with many banks. He would know how to rob a bank quite well. I guess you should call the police and tell them to arrest him.

"Taking/showing interest in a free recovery guide"

Again FireZ, I take interest in reading about how to hack off websites. Eh FireZ ban me now before I hack someone with my beginner hacking knowledge.

It seems to me that FireZ is assuming quite a lot in his new dominating power.

If anything this is also a positive feedback for the installation of peer mod voting.

And kind of a suggestion. I say we allow for user petitions to degrade Mod powers/ standings.

I know many people will agree that he is assuming too much. I am sorry for any disrespect this has caused any other mod except FireZ, because, in all honesty, I do not respect him at all.

Thank you for listening,
Simon

I'm pretty sure FireZ is doing his best at protecting sythe users, don't hate him for it.

If you had to deal with tons of scammers and vaders constantly posting and trying to get back without even reading the rules on how to dispute a ban don't you think you would also get made and simply put "go away" or something? I've been seeing a lot of these threads recently in the feedback section, Firez and the rest of the staff are doing a great job at Sythe and I don't care how rude they are to those scammers, they scammed on the forums and they don't deserve to be coming back.

Personally, I have read over posts from FireZ, and when dealing with the amount of appeals he gets a day, he probably would get frustrated, and doesn't see opportunity in bringing a member back into the website and letting them operate through out the community.

Stop being kiss asses. Honestly. All of these posts are kissing up. Czar, I'm glad you posted this. In my opinion I think a majority of the staff is biased toward potential scammers, or what they may think will be a scammer. If they aren't doing anything extremely against the rules, there shouldn't be a ban.

Maybe I should edit this. I might help them get mod logs by infracting me for 'spamming.'

I agree. Like FireZ told me before when he bans he likes to throw the dice and play a guessing game because and I qoute "And I'm damn good at it". I really think bans shouldn't be based upon a guessing game.

Another way of looking at it is FireZ thinks of it as guilty before proven innocent , in some cases this may be a bad move but I think FireZ has the best of intentions. FireZ don't take my comments as a knock down to you, in fact I really do respect you because you bring alot to sythe. But I just believe that you sometimes infer people are scammers without sufficent proof. You roll the rigged dice, ya you win 90% of the time but just think how bad it would feel to be wrongfully banned? Think from their perspective and I think you'll find that you will be much more efficient with your bans.

Was going to make the exact same post.

Pics?

I think he's doing his best, but being like, Strict and to the point.

In life, sometimes you haveto forgive, and maybe not assume.

I think he is technically doing what a mod is suppossed to do, but Banning someone just because they have interested in hacking, etc, shouldn't be a instant ban.

He shouldn't close disputes because he thinks other staff will agree, he should wait for others.

But, i do see him as being very active, and trying his best. Maybe just chill with the banning and closing threads, but overall a decent mod.

Sorry, but you're not taking any feedback at all from this thread... I don't care about the way you think, I care whether you make the right decisions or not. Never have I seen a staff member cause so many bans which are unjustified. And about that quote Matt made, I knew then that your dick had gotten pretty big ever since you got mod. You don't show it, but it's there.

I've always personally thought that a few staff members are particularly harsh/unforgiving with certain manners, but it's really not up to anyone to change that except if it gets really out of hand. We're each individuals like anyone else and do things differently; I believe on most forums it's even stated in the rules that some punishments will vary depending on the moderator's discretion.

Let's get an example here. When I used to do a dispute here and there, I took the time in reading the post unless the person was completely retarded, and even contacted them over MSN to speak with them. That took a long time, but it's how I did things, which is why I rarely did disputes.

FireZ on the other hand has a type of zero tolerance rule in effect. If there is no room for forgiveness, it's not given. All of his replies are, as he says, rational though harsh. Given that, he's able to plow through disputes and is able to keep most of the "bad" users off the site, more than what I would have gotten done with my method. My point? The way he does things is the efficient way.

A good amount of the staff is overpowered. Honestly, do you think it's right to rid somebody from the whole site without doing anything wrong? It may be his 'zero tolerance rule' but it's not right. The sythe I remember didn't ban anybody unless there was proof of a rule being broken. Sure, when I moderated I had to ban people with the sum of their infractions adding up, for spamming. A stupid reason at that. I'm glad he doesn't want people scamming on this site, but he is taking it out of hand.

FJ is a website catered towards people who hack/scam/phish runescape accounts. As such, the proof posted can be reasonably considered as valid proof given the circumstances, enough so to warrant a ban.

If they can prove they are innocent, FireZ will happily be obliged to unbanned them. I've seen him do his share of unbanns.

I've looked at dispute forums daily and so far i haven't seen fireZ blunder at all. Reports without proof he locks. Reports with obvious proof he gets through them.

I don't see the problem with him at all. And like Blupig said hes efficient to keeping the site safe.

I must agree with the OP on this topic, I like to browse the appeals and pardons sections just to see what I think would be a reasonable decision on a appeal or pardon. (Not that my opinion matters, I just like to see circumstances) I think a person shouldn't be punished for potential crimes, yes, many of us here at sythe have the knowledge to hack but none of us do. I can go out and create a virus if I wanted to bad enough, but I don't. Some people (Myself included) enjoy learning about these things.

If there isn't proof, there shouldn't be a ban warranted. If your opinion is based on a feeling, you should be demoted immediately, or at least warned.

Keeping the site safe isn't the concern. The concern is some staff being over powered and being biased towards their own opinion.

I'm gonna post here and am going to try and make my point clear.

FireZ is a fantastic mod, but yes, there are times where him and maybe some other mods, get their point across, but do it very ... I don't want to say mean, but they do it without thinking of how the other person might take it.

Now, they know they can take peoples feedback and change, or not, because it's really their own character/personality whatever you wanna call it.

Now I do think most are amazing, but sometimes they do treat other members like crap (and I'm not attacking staff in anyway, I just think you could do it a bit more nicely), but that's just the type of person I am, I like to think of how the other person might take it.

All in all.. He can either take the feedback he gets from people or disregard it. Personally, I think he should try to think before he posts more (and again, this isn't to try and offend you, because I know you are working hard and I even ask you for help alot of times), and just try to take some feedback and build up on it from there.

I hope that made sense :)
