fbi.gov, fake emails?

hey everyone, i just wen ton my msn and i saw a add request from [email protected] or something like that, but i am sure it was fbi.gov. i am pretty sure it was a fake as i have heard about this before. i m just making sure.
P.S. i didnt add him/her and blocked it. Thanks

 

He's not necessarily a scammer, you can make @fbi.gov emails yourself (not verified, of course.)

 

Yeah you use to be able to until recently. Like he said above, it doesn't mean hes out to scam you.

 

I'd suggest blocking him. I just denied his request to add me.

 

Really doesn't seem like the right section for this thread. But there was some scam involving @fbi.gov emails.

 

Just so you know, the United States Government will not email you under any circumstance unless you are working with the Government which is regarding your work field. Knowing this, nobody from the United States Government will even bother adding you on MSN when they know everything about you as it is, if they have anything to tell you they will be at your doorstep. Phone calls, emails, all can be ignored by a person. This is why they'd rather speak to you face-to-face knowing you never hear about the government legitly emailing you. If you receive an email saying they are from the government, it's a scam or phishing email. Don't bother with it.

 

It's fake. I know a good friend that is a hacker he one of them. I know for a fact he isn't a scammer, just a cool email.

It's an unverified email. He doesn't work for the United States Government.

 

As Chippz0r said, the FBI don't have any need to add you. It's more efficient to come knocking at your door (where they can catch you if you run). Also, they don't need to add you to track you... if Microsoft refuses to send them info, they'll take it by force
