I'm too lazy to go through every genre, so I'll just name a few:

Melodic Death Metal: Arch Enemy, Norther
Black: Burzum, Satyricon, Behemoth (well..they're blackened death, but whatever)
    Folk/Viking: Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Finntroll
    Groove: Machine Head, Anthrax
    Thrash: Vader, Testament

Why is everybody at this forum just completely obsessed w/ Death Metal?

Ska, Ska, Ska: Streetlight Manifesto, Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution (BOTAR), Reel ********, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Planet Smashers, The Aquabats, The Slackers

Those are my favorites, pretty much in order from the best to the worst (but still, the Slackers are great!)

Not Death Metal, Metal as a whole.

How can you not like bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Children of Bodom (<3<3)

Because it's just mostly screaming, loud drums, loud guitar. Sure it takes skill, but it's just not pleasing to my ears.

    I'm more into this (<3 Jim Conti's Bari Sax Solo @ 4:25)

This combo is another great song (called Point/Keasbey Nights/Counterpoint; a combination of Point/Counterpoint, Then Keasbey Nights, then the end of P/CP). Keasbey Nights (4:01) is just an amazing song.

Listen to "Fade to Black" by Metallica then tell me that ^^ describes metal. I hate people that think "metal" is just screaming and loud instruments. sure, some genre's of it are, but not every single one.

It's just so boring to me. It doesn't have a kick to it like ska does w/ it's amazing skank/rhythm guitar and the horns.

That song is my alltime favorite ska song. What a horn line... just an amazing song.
