False Advertising in the Gaming World

So I was reading through some gaming articles on IGN and GameSpy because I was bored and I came upon this:

It's about how WarZ developer delivered information to Valve that falsely presented their game. The interviewer asks tough questions and the interviewee seems to try and dodge the questions or just deny any allegations outright by blaming bad wording.

What do you guys think about false advertising about games? Like kickstarter games that don't actually kickstart and you're out money.

 

The game shouldn't have been greenlighted until it was completed, and it should have had explicit mentions of its alpha phase status pasted all over the greenlight campaign page.

Similarly, another game I follow, also in Alpha has been greenlit, named StarForge, which recently successfully gained funds through indieGoGo. They don't plan to release the game on Steam until it is in a worthy state, and not in its pre-alpha phase.

 

I heard this game was a whole scam or something. I dunno much about it but id never buy it.

 

The thing is that the developers are claiming that the game is in a 'release state' when it is clear that is isn't and it mislead a lot of people into buying it. The thing that really gets me is how easy and painless it would have been to just release an apology saying 'We screwed up and sent some bad info to valve, here is how you can get a refund if you want it.'
