Fallout 4 - Having fun?!

Mines downloading, but haven't got to play it yet...

Does it own up to all the hype? I've been expecting it to and planned to find out sooner... But as I'm unable to play yet, I'm tired of waiting to find out when someone else can just tell me lol.


I'm not speaking on terms of "the weapon upgrades are super cool" or etc... Is the game itself AS FUN as promised?

 

I ended up buying Fallout 4 on a whim after a lot of my friends were hyping it up yesterday and there was a 20% off code so I thought why not. It's my first time playing a fallout game or any game of this kind of rpg so I'm not too sure what to expect. I haven't gotten too far but I'm impressed with what I've seen, the storyline has been really immersive so far and I'm liking all the character customization options (both appearance and perks). I'll play a bit more and update with my thoughts.

 

Not really.

The textures are already outdated for next gen, the story isn't all the great, the side quests have zero impact on the world. example you go get food for people bring it back, and they still complain that they are hungry.

Yet in other games you do a similiar quest and when you come back the people look healthier, the area looks more lively they are growing crops now etc etc and you can see that you decision impacted the world as fallout NOTHING you do as any affect on the story nor the world.


tlR version it's already a outdated rpg by todays standards with a cult following of fanboys

 

I enjoyed the previous games a whole lot! lol. Only shooter games I bother with.

That's odd, I just read a review like 2 minutes ago from game informer that claimed the exact opposite of what you've said... And I don't see how graphics are outdated really... Compared to other games I play... ESO, Skyrim, etc, they're some of the best I've seen so far.

However, the game informer did agree that the story was hard to get into because you spent so little time learning "Who you are" and only know "what you lost" from the first of the game... So 2/3 say the story could use improvement, not what I was hoping to hear at all.

 

Now that you mention it, I do think that the intro was weirdly rushed (thought that was just because of the specific dialogue I had chosen - does that actually have an impact?).

 

No idea. I just know that game informer said the intro was rushed and left them wishing they knew more about who their character actually was.

Gameinformer is one of those companies that get paid for reviews go find a honest review not a paid one.

 

I wanna get this game but i don't know if its a waste :l anyone put in alot of hours with an honest review?

 

if you enjoyed fallout 3/NV then get it, as it's the exact same style nothings changed besides it being abit more fpsy and less rpgy

 

I've never played any of the fallout games before. Are there currently any other big title games out right now worth getting over F4?

 

You should play them, if you've played Skyrim or any of Bethesdas's RPG's then you'd know what they feel like.

Other than that I'd play Witcher 3 like above poster said. Fallout 4 is still pretty buggy at the moment, so I'd wait until they release patches that'll make it run smoother.

 

I took your advice and got F4. I played about ~60 hours of it. Extremely fun game. I love the setting, the dialogue, the factions, the combat, the perk chart, and am very impressed by the massive amount of content. Whether or not it compares to previous fallout games, I'm not sure.

Looking forward for mods etc to come out to toy around with the building system on the game.

 

The real question is: When is"The Elder Scrolls: VI" coming out? I've been craving a good medieval rpg that can top Oblivion. Skyrim was too casual.

 

I was so excited. Only game I've ever bought on release. So, so disappointed.

 

What were you disappointed by?

 

To me it didn't quite have much depth to it in terms of writing or quests. Oblivion has always been my favorite game they put out.

 

I've heard that the side quests are pretty lacking compared to the previous games. There are a few good ones though, check out the Fens Sewer/Silver Shroud/Cabot House if you haven't already.

 

I have played skyrim and invested a lot of hours in it. I feel like I'm doing the same with Fallout 4 ... Skyrim with guns lool

 

Yeah Cabot house is completely bugged for me... Killed his dad and need to complete quest but all the guy says is "he's finally dead..." over and over

 

Try fast travelling away, sleeping for a few hours, then going back.
