I remember when it first came out and there was a craze to kill it.

I never remember the loot being useful, and thus people dropped out of doing it.

Now people are saying the mole gives good loot.. When i thought it was all empty bird nests?!

Can someone explain why the mole is coming back into popularity?

The mole can actually make you some money.

These are some things that it drops :

100%: Big bones, Mole skin(1-3), Mole claw
Shield left half(dragon)
Cut dragonstone
Dragon med helm, Rune kiteshield, Rune sq shield
Dragon spear

You can trade the mole claws/skin for birds nests from the guy by the pond, above the surface. With the nests you get seeds. You could get lucky and land yourself a magic tree seed
