    PShh ^^ Facebook is getting more and more popular. its basically like myspace you add the people you know, you get random ads by people you dont know but never chat to them. Some socially isolated kids use facebook as a way to express themselves like on facebook they can talk to girls without the fear of looking like a retard(Described the internet). But the majority of facebook users talk to their own freinds and make groups its rare to actually start talking to someone new.

    I don't usually call people I don't know. I'm willing to bet you have a few Facebook friends whom you don't know personally. See my point?

    As far as forums go- I participate in Forum communities so that I can meet and discuss with people I don't know, instead of just 'friending' them.

    To be honest, the only person I have added on Facebook who I don't know personally (and yes, there are some people in this community, though I have never seen them in person, that I may add on Facebook as I consider this a quite "personal" relationship...I don't just add random people...) is my close friends' girlfriend. Everyone else, I must have talked to at least a few times in person OR talked to them A LOT on some community/web-site. But yeah, I know a bunch of people who add just completely random people;

    EDIT: I did add one celebrity, Nicole Vaidosva, but only because I actually "know" her through 3 degrees of separation :p

    I mean you rarely call people, but you've never txted a friend of a friend or anything like that? I sure have. I thought by face-to-face, you meant literally talking in person. I may have misinterpreted this.

    Not that Facebook is necessarily 100 percent legitimate but I trust myspace a WHOLE lot less.

    MySpace basically encourages people to "Friendwhore" and just friend as many people as they can. Facebook seems to be much more personal, to me.

    Exactly. It's much more personal and professional.
