Anyway, I'd love an RSPS, especially a 718 (2010-2012 RuneScape). If successful, it can be very profitable for Sythe, but it will definitely require start-up costs and only he can choose whether he wants to take a risk or not.

Endorsing an RSPS can result in serious shit if you don't do it strategically and carefully. I would personally recommend we don't directly endorse it, but instead advertise it and promote it heavily on here.

You have a few hundred members who would probably be willing to try it out and play (including me) which is a huge advantage. You also have the ability to build a competent staff team through members here. All the cards are on the table, up to you to use them or not (@Sythe). If you're going to do it, do it right and that means investing time, effort and money (as you can probably imagine). It's a really good idea but if we choose to do it, we have to do it well.

As for you Bus, can you stop trying to act like you're some kind of Saint of RSPS (ayy lmao) when we both know your reputation amongst RSPSes really isn't "clean" or even strong. Thanks for your input though, we can all see you know what you're talking about for sure.

 

07 crashed it, to the point where no one played it and everyone played 07.

OT though, let's start with a Sythe RSPS first. See how it goes, if people like it we can add extra worlds etc.

 

Why's it so terrible?

 

I'ma go into more detail since ur considering this seriously:

317: What's pretty much considered the golden RSPS, by far the most used, whether that's good or not is up to you, these are typically either rs07 based or a mix of pre-eoc items and 07 items aswell as bosses, the mix provides tons of content but so does the rs07 version, throughout history 317's have preformed the best "bang for your buck" so to speak, these are the poster childs of RSPS, 317's are balanced to be pking, skilling & pvm oriented, the full triangle.

377: This is a later version of 317, most anyone who ever wanted something in the 300 era went with 317 compared to 377 so not many of these exist, there is currently none on the market, I'm not even sure where you could find a 377 base anymore, probably in the archives of rune-server or very far back, includes the full triangle.

468: A bit later on then the 377, not many people enjoyed the 468-528 era so most just chose to go with a 317 again, some 468's exist but none are currently on the market that are a decent size, includes the full triangle.

502& 528: Share the same as 468, their not as popular so most people chose to go with 317's since their the most successful, these used to have a niche of people that loved playing them(u could have awesome snow effects and everything from divines to rapiers to the old interfaces with these), these were known for being economys mostly, there were a few pvp among them. Includes pking & Pvming, typically not skilling based.

614: Without a doubt 614's are dying off, these used to be HUGE but now their almost all gone, 614's are known for their normally abusive staff and corrupt owners, Very few "proper" 614's were ever ran, these are without a doubt oriented towards the pking triangle, some had very basic skilling & bossing for pk points, these are geared to make lots of money, nearly everything Is buyable, 614's coined the term "money hungry owners" and put it into RSPS lore forever.


637/639: These are sometimes decent, typically pk servers these are also sometimes economy oriented, definitely for people who enjoy things like nex armours, divines, curses & arma storm and polypores, geared towards the rs3 player more than the 07, 637's and 639's typically are on the pking triangle, but also can be economy & skilling on the triangle.


718: The pre-eoc brainchild, sometimes popular among the people who enjoy rs3 and pre-eoc's combat and bosses, this is for people who enjoy economy's & skilling, divines, torva, curses and other things, these are rarely on the pking triangle and are definitely geared to economy/skilling.

744+ Eoc, u don't want one of these, they are all dead, but typically economy/skilling based.

Are you telling me what I owned and didn't own? I actually did screw up with Mistex but it wasent Jason originally it was Play boy and CHEX, so ha.

Also if your going to keep second guessing me on every post, go ahead because I'm not going to respond, I have the fucking payments from the os-pvp official donation paypal and ur sitting there telling me I didn't run it.

I said I owned these, I didn't say I was known to do so, some of these I stayed BTS and just managed ads while others handled development & CM.

Don't tell me "what are you on" when I was there when the fucking INDUSTRY started.


Last time I'm responding tbh, I'm the longest- largest RWTER for RSPS and I'm getting shit like I'm lying.

Last time I'm responding, build the servers yourselves, I'm not taking shit from people who think their cool who can abuse a non-compiled client or someone who was just a player, I offered to help not deal with your guys horseshit.

Building a RSPS is literally tons of work and requires an insane amount of time & attention, if you don't believe I did, by all means do it yourselves.

End of story.

Honestly, all the RSPS's nowadays are way behind the curve and are buggy as shit since the people who wrote them don't do any research. The end result is that it feels clunky and not the same as the real RS. Literally the whole core of all RSPS's nowadays before adding content is half assed because they focus on quantity over quality.

Just fixing things like that would put you a mile ahead of other RSPS's out there in terms of how enjoyable it is to play and it's not like the information isn't available to do so. You just need to know where to look.

 

Abuse a non compiled client? Our client just allowed noclipping.( You said the client was obfuscated, Which it wasn't when Dylan was asking for our help to fix it )

I don't doubt that you've been apart of these servers infact I know you have, You're good with advertising, managing, growing etc but all I'm saying is you have no idea how to code stuff, You claimed you did so I called you out on it.

I can also agree that it takes an insanely long time to perfect a server as it does for anything. I'm not here to talk shit, I'm just going to correct you when you're wrong. E,g talking about 502 and 528 servers when it was 508 and 525.

 

In my defense whens the last time you've seen a decent 508 or 525 ;p, been quite a while since I've played one lol .


Tech though I'm right because all each revision is, is an RS update, so I could of said theres a 501-599 and its true, there just might not of been a RSPS made there.

 

You're not wrong but they were the major ones, Iirc 525 were spawn pk severs in major citys when PVP worlds were first released when there was a trade limit, So about 2010-2012.

 

I love the long list of failed Servers you were apart of good job some of them done well but didn't last very long at all, also in the future obfuscate your client using a non open sourced obfuscation program and you won't have too much of an issue of people decompiling your client and / or deobfuscating your client (most open source obfuscation programs don't even obfuscate critical information such as RSA Keys / Connection IP's & UID)

Ur giving me a lot of shit for something Dylan fucked up, not me.

I got the IPB forums, ran them, managed the ads, advertised, managed the staff team and managed the community ontop of running multiple sites and going to High school.

I'd like to see anyone else do better in my situation rofl.

 

OS-PVP Barely even held ~120 online without lagging so you're wrong, and the rest of the servers were trash.

Also let's not forget here investing in a server is not owning a server, so you cannot say 'I owned this I owned that' when you didn't. at the end of the day who made all the decisions? not you.

I've worked with and owned many servers that were and are successful.

 

In every RSPS I listed I owned 50 or 51% of the equity.

If I left the RSPS It either died or my equity was bought out.


I sold out of os-pvp early which was a huge mistake, I ended up selling 50% for $400.


Later went on to be worth about $50,000.
