expired infractions

I would not mind them being expunged from your record if you go without getting a similar infraction for like a year...

I have like 7 pages of infractions, and I haven't really been infracted at all the past year... so them going away after being expired for a year would be nice.

 

I really don't care. It's not annoying for me.

 

Such a waste of time for the admin if this would be added.

While this suggestion may give you a bit of comfort while looking at your profile, it would take Matthew's time to edit vBulletin to add this in. It's not something that will be done because it has little to no practical benefit to the site, and it's more trouble to do then it is worth. Because of that, I highly doubt that this will ever actually be implemented.

This is the ultimate solution

 

A cron job to delete infractions that have been expired for more than 6 months would take no more than 10-15 minutes to program.

 

Programming takes more time than that. Honestly.

 

Pay for the consequences.

 

Not a cron script to delete from the database where infraction is expired and 6 months since expiration. Ran once a week, or so.

Really, not that complicated >.>.

 

But the mods will still want to know what infractions you had in your past, regardless of whether or not you can see them.

Why? If it's been 6 months since it EXPIRED then it shouldn't be held against you. Hell, make it a year since it expired. At that point, it should just be expunged from your record and not matter anymore.

I like to keep things on record no matter what, but I do think they could be removed after a certain amount of time but the staff I think will want to keep them so they have a sense of your character and what you have done in the past even if it was a long time ago.

 

I'm sure Matthew/Sythe would have to spend a lot of time for something like this. I honestly can't see why this would bug you. No support.

 

Saying its so the staff can get a feel for your character really has no point if they really need to get a sense of your character they could always read your posts not just look at the negatives why do they need spam infractions of a year's past. If that is the only reason they stay on our record they should really be made open for all the public (once expired so we can see what people are like)
I don't see why people should have to keep these. At the very least these should be deleted or archived into the mod lounge not on our profile page.

 

I like this idea, because for example, I have many reversed infractions, a few very old ones, after a year or two they could be deleted

Arn't infractions just warnings to show what you done wrong? Thats kinda the point if them, to show you what not to do next time?

But a hide option or somthing but not delete them...

 

hiding them was my first idea but removing them after a year would make more sense.
