    exercise help

    Hello,
In the last year, I have dropped from 250 to 193 pounds, and am currently 6'4. Although I am not fat as I once was, I still do not view myself as being skinny. I currently eat about 1400 calories a day, workout on a exercise bike for 30 minutes, do 80 sit ups and 50 push ups every day. What exercises do you think I should do to get into better shape? I mostly care about upper chest and abs.
P.S: do you think i am at a healthy weight, or should i lose more?
P.S.S: i do not own anything but a 20 lb dumbbell, so anything without having to buy something would be great.
    Thanks
    ~Nate

Depends how old you are. If you are a teenager, its unhealthy for you to be eating 1400 calories. Think of it like this, your body needs a base amount of calories to do BASIC functions. Since you are working out a lot every day, which you should be changing up, you need more calories. If your body isn't getting enough energy to do basic functions because you are eating so little and working out, it's very unhealthy. Also, change up your work outs. Push ups and crunches are ok, but trying doing some high rep weight lifting, that awesome for toning your body.

It really depends more on what you want to achieve. If you want to burn fat, then sustained or burst cardio sessions are the best. Mixed with some weight circuits such as curls, chest press, push ups, crunches, you've got a good routine.

    As far as diet:

Breakfast - oats, yoghurt, fruit, no fat milk
Pre lunch snack - Handful of almonds
Lunch - plain rice, chicken/fish, eggs
Post lunch snack - banana, fruit
Dinner - more lean protein meat, salad

As for pre workout, eat an hour or two before, and a small snack such as a energy bar or banana would do well and give you the energy you need when doing cardio and weights. Yoghurt is actually a very good one to have before workout as it gives you the energy needed to do both cardio and weights effectively.

1400 calories a day at 6"4 193 pounds is already extremely low and you should be shedding weight at a fast pace as it is.

Also we cannot determine if you are at a healthy weight without pictures. Height and weight are meaningless without bodyfat %. And as SpraynWipe said, it depends on what body type you are looking to achieve

Man that's sad dude, at a height of 6'4 and weight of 193 you should be eating 1940 calories alone just for your body to survive. You've only been able to shed excess fat because there is so much in store, but once you get to a lower body fat % you will start looking like bones, because your body will have to feed off of your muscles in order to survive. So you would be basically working out for nothing because your body is eating itself.
Here's a link to help you determine how many calories you should be eating, with or without exercise; according to your age, weight, height, and determining what your future goals are. It is very accurage, it was made by a proffesional engineer. Also note that the most amount of calories you should take off of your Total daily energy expediture or TDEE is 20%, as any more than that would be unhealthy. Also I would like to note that using this method will take a while longer than just starving yourself, but in the end you will look fit instead of 'skinny' which by what you described you want to be. For without sufficient food you cannot possibly be able to produce sufficient abs or upper body muscles.
    Good luck!
