Ex-Moderator Ranks

The implementation just seems a little hasty at best.

 

From my understanding of the rank, the whole thing itself means they resigned on good terms. I don't know exactly what it was but there is some sort of time and I believe attitude criteria behind receiving one.

 

IIRC, 3 months and they leave without being forced out. That was my argument. Retired just doesn't make sense, if you're going to have that then have a Dishonorably Discharged Mod or Disgraced Mod rank as well and brand those who failed to live up the standard. While that is a bit of humor you get the point.

 

We wanted a way to differentiate between Ex-Sectionals, Ex-Globals, and Ex-Admins (obviously Ex-Admins were already done before hand).

Now, its common knowledge that 3 partyhats belong to the Admin rank, 3 santa hats belong to the Global rank, and 2 santa hats + an item belong to the Sectional rank depending on the section.

Therefore, its only fitting that Ex-Admins get 3 greyed partyhats (as they've always had), Ex-Globals get 3 greyed santa hats, and Ex-Sectionals get 2 greyed santa hats + an item in the middle.

Now our problem with the Ex-Sectional rank is that we didn't know what to put in the middle, because if for example we put an obby shield there, it would imply that the person was a former sectional moderator. Our only solution was to add an independent item to the middle, and the "flower" is what was chosen to be the best.

Of course it doesn't look at nice as 3 santa hats, but unfortunately this rank should have been made from day one, just like how there was an ex-admin rank. Had it been made from day one, people would be accustomed to it by now.

I'm sure if the ex-sectionals rallied together to get a different item and there was a passing poll, it may be changed, but personally I think it looks just fine.

 

If you don't know what to put in yet to make it not look awful, then don't change it until you do. It's not like it's an urgent issue.

 

I think they're fine... once the color sorts out. If the sectionals complain, well maybe they should have done "better," if their goal was to become global =p. I mean, it is not like it matters either way but I prefer it this way.

As long as Laptop65 doesn't get them, I'm down.

I was on for a year and a half. I at least deserve a shackle or something.

 

I like the change it's a nice switch but we could go back to the other ones as well ether one is nice.

The middle icon can be changed. Post suggestions, nobody's going to bite.

 

If you have a better suggestion then feel free to suggest it, however, saying it's bad achieves nothing on it's own. Majority of current staff agreed with this one so you might like it better when you're used to it.

 

I did suggest something, but a lot of people tl;dr'ed it..

Now I'm thinking of what to do for the centerpiece of a rank that I (and hopefully other people) will think looks better than the snowflake-thing. The paragraphs that some people skimmed through while disregarding the actual suggestion were the reasoning behind my idea because I didn't want to simply say, "This is bad. I suggest fixing it." And a sort of reddish-gray rank with an ugly flower, which was the rank when I made the thread, was indeed terrible-looking.

 

Why not gray out a bunch of mod ranks and let the ex-mod choose which one best fits? I'd be a rubber chicken for example.

I prefer the idea of same rank different titles but you guys are hell bent against that for some reason.

This being said the asterisk thing is ugly as fuck.

It looks awful. Almost everyone who posted in this thread and sf threads agree.

 

It's only going to matter to staff + current ex-staff, most the SF's opinions aren't gonna matter as they're not even going to get the rank anyway.

 

I'm confused here. What's the issue using a greyed out version of whatever section the moderator was a part of? If their rank is 1. Greyed out, and 2. Says "Retired", people would realize they're no longer a moderator. Isn't the point of the ranks to show they use to be a sectional? It only makes sense to use whatever section symbol they moderated as their retired rank.

I'm just confused why that's an issue.

Edit: And since posting, it's been updated. Looks much better, I still believe the sectional symbols should be used though.

 

Someone should make a collage of all the current "center" sectional images.

For example some image that contains the sword for RS mod, obby shield for market mod, flier for com mod, book for support mod, rubber chicken for OT mod, and I forget what the GFX picture is.

That might look cool, don't forget to gray it out though.

 

If you insist on having the one rank for all "retired" sectionals, I personally would say it looks better if you scrap the santas and just use three random sectional symbols.

e.g.,
